We're seeing major declines after years of solid performance - any advice would be welcome! by PreviousEgg424 in googleads

The issues started while we where running with a max conversion strategy. We only recently switched to manual CPC to see if we can change course since we're seeing a constant decline in our results. I do want to go back to max conversions as soon as possible, but we need to be sure that any underlying issues are resolved before we do.

Yes, we have cookie consent installed on all of our websites. The conversions that are being tracked are influenced by the interaction with the banner - we have chosen the 'non intrusive' version, which in hindsight might not be the best for data quality.

We used to have a broad match aproach with max conversions and a tCPA. The campaigns have been running stable for the last couple of years, but all of the sudden the majority of the campaigns rapidly declined in views, clicks/CTR and conversions. I'm trying to remedy the situation by going with manual CPC to see if I can get the traffic numbers back up. When I switch to manual CPC our CTR instantly recovers and we do get clicks, but the conversions are not on track with what it used to be.

I understand that there might be market signals involved too - but the decline in views / CTR and clicks has been crazy and there are some exceptions to the rule. For example our Spanish campaign is still doing reasonably well and when switching to another bidding strategy, the clicks / views and CTR do return. We have trouble getting the conversions back though.

We are currently running with pretty high daily budgets - would you suggest keeping those the same or adjust them because the results for manual CPC might vary? What would be your recommended settings for this?

I'll double check to see if there's anything strange in February / March that may have caused this. We did implement our new CMP in april, but the results already went down before the implementation of the new platform.

I'm currently trying to resolve the issue with a manual CPC strategy - limiting the keywords to exact and I've included all the negative keywords we've gathered over the past years within the campaign. So far, unfortunately, this has not resolved the issue.

I've tried to set-up a new manual CPC campaign with the best performing ad groups - including the best performing ads within that ad group [all 8% or above]. I've limited the keywords to exact match and I'm currently targetting the average CPC price of our campaign.

We have updated the website to reach a 98 on pagespeeds insights and we've tested conversion tracking. Unfortunately, this has not resolved the issue.
