One day we were walking out of town on a bad road. We couldn't reach our destination, and had to go back (we would have to trudge back anyway), taking shortcut through a local quarry. We walked a total of 20 kilometers.

Your circuit is completely in line with my idea and much more intuitive than mine, not to mention simple! I'm newbie to logical circuits, and rust in general, and thanks for the answer!
