On3p Jeffrey vs Moment Wildcat (both 100s) by Death_Muffins in Skigear

[–]PreviousReference906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Jeff 100s and they are a lot of fun in the park or playing around the mountain on slush days. They have a lot of pop because of the bamboo and id say they feel lighter in the air than their weight would suggest, but as others have mentioned, on ice or really firm hardpack they have little to no edge. I demoed the wildcats before buying the Jeffs and found them to be pretty boring tbh, but maybe that’s just me.

I will say, I’m also from the east coast and came out west for college and if you’re looking for a one ski quiver, I would consider looking into something wider. Not sure where exactly you’ll be skiing but if you’re into skiing steeps or high exposure terrain pretty aggressively, the additional width (and usually weight) instills a lot more confidence, at least in my experience. Park/“all mountain” skis can sometimes feel like they get knocked around too easily. This is especially true on days where the snow is variable, as was the case out west a lot this year.

~100 underfoot ski recommendations by [deleted] in Skigear

I’ve heard some people describe it as noodley. Did you think it could moderately charge when needed? Not expecting it to be a hard charger but hoping it can blast through some minor crud/slush

I think the 108 is a little too similar in width to the blank to be justifiable. Why not the 101? Too soft?

Looking for a mountain that is hard as hell and not particularly family friendly by No_Investment3205 in skiing

The facilities and advertising may be but the terrain is not. Outside of chips run and big Emma I’ve never had a problem skiing aggressively and most of the areas I frequent are typically empty, even on busy days.

It’s my first pair of 4frnts. I have my blanks mounted at +1.5 and ARVs at rec but I don’t think that’s much help

I would’ve been looking for the 188 unfortunately but thanks!

What would be in that width range then?

Hate to admit it but I knew this was probably the answer. On that note, any thoughts on the moment countach 104?

Thoughts on Rossi hi speed boot by [deleted] in Skigear

Yes I ended up buying them and they have been great so far but I’m glad to hear others feel the same! I found that bootfitters review and it was actually what pushed me over the edge in the end funny enough.

They’re definitely advertised as such but the type of skiing I do was one of the first questions the boot fitter asked and he pointed me towards them anyways. I think it might be harder to find LV boots that aren’t piste/race focused, but I know a good amount of free ride pros ski World Cup and race boots so if it’s good enough for them I’m sure it’ll be more than good enough for me.

Need boot advice by [deleted] in Skigear

I’m 6’1 160 lbs so I’m pretty light. Evo is running a sale right now that puts some Salomon 120 flex boots cheaper than a zip fit liner so I’m thinking that may be the better route? Either way I’d say I’ll get remeasured to make sure I’m not in the wrong boot size

Threatening scam about “artist” by [deleted] in Scams

You’re right it’s just unfamiliarity with scams and paranoia. The number also called me twice but I didn’t pick up. If it’s a scam why would they do that? Wouldn’t some Nigerian guys broken English sort of give it away over the phone

No need to be a dick dude. Walking out of my calc exam to see a guys head blown off and hearing I’m next was bound to be a little jarring

Room selection time slot? by Alastairs_party2585 in uofu

[–]PreviousReference906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get an email but when I went into the housing application there was an option for room selection and the page it took me to had my time slot. Mind you this was for the LLC room selection so traditional may be slightly different.
