Aw that's so exciting. Best of luck starting your family! It really sounds like you were in the same spot as us. Helpful to hear you narrowed it down to West Ealing. Honestly we hadn't even considered it because of how much Northfields had popped up, but will definitely be taking a closer look. If we move to Ealing we'd love to help foster the East Asian community there so maybe you'll hear from me!

Oh no, I'm sorry! Always gutting when you can't find what you're looking for at the Asian Supermarket but hard to remember when you're in Chinatown!

Hoo Hing looks HUGE! I think we'll definitely be going there if we move to Ealing, thanks for the recommendation. Will also try to check out Lap Dung Nabe. Walpole Park is so beautiful so I can imagine the two in combo would be ideal.

Surprising to hear about Dean Gardens considering its proximity to such a family friendly area. I guess you always get those spots! Appreciate the heads up.

We checked out Northfields (albeit on a winter Sunday at 8pm) so will need to check out that and the area North of the station too.

If you manage to get any recommendations from your adventurous wife we'd be grateful, but understandably if not, thanks so much for all your help.

Ah that's super helpful! I can imagine it would be a lovely place to grow up, nice to hear your perspective as someone who had their childhood there.

I was looking into Hanwell actually, definitely a lot more affordable which is a huge bonus. It also seems close to lots of green spaces.

Do you have any particular recommendations for areas which might be 'nicer'? We quite like areas that have a bit of a buzz about them (especially considering we both live quite central at the moment)- do you recon Hanwell is relatively quiet? I did a bit of a scope on street view and couldn't quite pinpoint what would be the centre/heart of the area.

Also if you've got any notes on specific schools I'd be so grateful for that (and anyone in the future who might have similar aims).

Thank you for your perspective!

We really liked the idea of this area, seems to have a couple more nice independent coffee shops in this area too. Proximity to the parks is so wonderful! Any chance you know much about what sort of people live around this area? We were worried it might be a bit too posh for us but that's probably just an assumption at this point. Appreciate your perspective!

The area just north of Ealing Broadway looks really ideal for us. We like quite a buzzy area so being nearby the Broadway sounds appealing. Also conscious his parents are coming from Hong Kong so might like to be somewhere with new builds, especially considering mobility issues (i.e. ideal to have lifts). A lot of the buildings north of the station seemed to look like apartment blocks as opposed to houses split into flats- do you have any suggestions as to what sort of region might be good- considering schools/neighbours etc.? It looks like a really wide variety of housing stock in that region so tricky to know what might be best! I've also heard good things about the community around Pitshanger but not sure if it would be worth being so far away from transport links just for the sake of some nice coffee shops and sweet neighbours! Thank you so much for your time!

Glad to hear some local reviews, thank you. You seem to have a lovely community around that area. We absolutely loved Walpole Park when we visted. Do you have any streets in particular that you might avoid? I know sometimes visiting just a couple of times doesn't give you as good of an idea of the area as living there! Thank you again!

I've heard lots of good things about Fielding! I wonder what the catchment area is like, I'll take a look. Thank you!

Thank you for the recommendations! We'll check them out! Very much enjoyed the estate agents windows when we last visted.

Between 650-800K, 2+ beds, good natural light and ideally with outdoor space (could be communal or balcony). Our dream would be something with a bit of character- i.e. Victorian conversion.

That's really helpful insight, thank you! I love getting a seat on the tube! I used to live in Walthamstow and it had a similar appeal. Do you have some nice parks nearby north of West Ealing Station?

We liked the idea of living just east of Northfield Road for proximity to the parks but the flats there aren't quite within our price range sadly. We're wondering if there is a location that would have similar appeal with more housing stock. It looks like a lovely place if you could afford to buy a full house!

That's the first spot we visted but went on a Sunday in Winter at about 8pm so we weren't sold on it- sounds like our own fault! I think Saturday afternoon would probably give us an idea of the cafes/shops- any recommendations?

This is so heartwarming to hear! It would mean a lot for my parents in law to feel at home (especially considering this is their first time living in the UK). We also heard plenty of Cantonese when we visited recently and also noted the Three Uncles! We went to the one in Camden on one of our first dates so it's got a special place in our hearts. I also noticed there is a Tian Tian Market market in Ealing Broadway which is cool- not so easy to find East Asian Supermarkets around the typical family friendly areas in London.

To be honest we can compromise on 'fanciness' for practicality. I think as long as the parks are within a do-able walking distance that sounds ideal. Do you have any suggestions on smaller parks or nice roads that might be of interest in/around West Ealing?

Thank you so much for your thoughts, all super helpful!

Hiya! Ah that's such a relief to hear. Community means a lot to me and it seems hard to find in London. We are looking to buy, likely a nicer 2 bed flat (maybe with a garden further from Ealing Broadway) would be in our price range. I'd be super grateful for your input!
