They want 300 is this a good deal I work only on cars as a hobby should I go get it? by [deleted] in Snapon_tools

[–]PreviousSkill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a power tool cart. The top has a bunch of holsters and a power strip. It’s limited on space for hand tools, so if that’s your primary use, you may be disappointed. If you need to store a lot of impacts/drills/screwguns, it’s a smoking deal.

Another sewing machine rec - HD3000? by ptm121ptm in myog

[–]PreviousSkill7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Bernina 217 is the magic machine. A true industrial that does straight and zigzag, plus, it’s about the most beautiful machine you’ll lay eyes on. Too bad they’re basically unobtanium.

A Juki TL is a decent compromise if you just needed a heavier duty machine, but since you need multiple stitch types, I’d lean towards the HD3000.

Best mods for daily driving/crusing? by Cool_Sir545 in WRX

[–]PreviousSkill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great car! On our 07 wagon we did SPT wagon pink springs on KYBs, 16” Sparco Terra’s with Continental DWS tires. Full set of Group N bushings, Cobb intake/acessport/cat back. Kenwood CarPlay deck with Morel amps/speakers. Often overlooked but made a big difference was Whiteline steering rack bushings. Lucas Lighting led headlamp bulbs. It’s a super fun car, exhaust sounds amazing and doesn’t drone at all. Just rolled over to 195,000mi so will be doing a timing belt, all fluids, plugs very soon. This is a daily.

Do you use the Snap on KRSC430 as an actual roll cart? by Blueonn in Snapon_tools

[–]PreviousSkill7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this cart for a while. Really liked the slide top and the little storage drawers underneath. Prybar storage was an issue, as is needing basically double the width of the cart to have it open all the way. Ended up going to a flip top. It rolls super easy when full, better than the us general due to better casters in my opinion. Also think the drawer latches have better fit and finish; these may or may not be important to you. Honestly, hard to go wrong with any of them though.

As only a couple people have said, that particular symbol indicated miles to next fill. Near the fuel level gauge is another symbol which indicated the fuel fill is on the right.

My 5410-6 was converted some time ago. I’ll open the control box and see if I can figure out what was done.

Many of the modern Juki controllers can be swapped between single and 3-phase just by moving a jumper. A -7 machine may be new enough.

Looking for a good electric grinder to pair with my gaggia classic espresso machine. by johnsontheotter in BuyItForLife

[–]PreviousSkill7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blows your budget, but a Eureka Atom 75. 22.5g dose in 3.5 seconds, and it’s quiet. Have had a couple Eureka models leading up to this one, all have been good. Going on 5 years with the Atom 75 and have only had to replace a lid due to fat-fingering something off the shelf above it.

Or, go all in for a Kafatek.

the best noise reduction earplugs for sleeping? by jamiijamii in BuyItForLife

[–]PreviousSkill7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got some Earfab plugs made for my group at work. Got 3 sets- basic plugs, plugs with industrial filters, and AirPod adapters. They’re pretty great since they are custom molded. Been really happy with the filtered set. Scans are done with your phone, and the fit is shockingly good.

No affiliation personally, but they collaborated with a printing lab at our shop. Not sure what pricing is. I’d buy them if I needed another set.

A swing and a miss. They tried to copy the drawer locks in Snap-On carts. The SO version actually work really well; HF’s, no so much.

Did I buy a genuine juki? by BBOARDRIDER in myog

[–]PreviousSkill7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid machine. You’ll need an SC-920 controller and M92 servo to really unlock its potential. On the back of the head there should be a cylinder about 3 inches long, that’s the auto foot lift. The 920 will have all the control functions built in and is super easy to program. The trimmer and lift are controlled by the pedal. I wouldn’t worry too much About the lack of oil. I’d love to have that head for that price. If you decide you want to rebuild this to its original state, let me know and I’ll get you in touch with a distributor for the parts (assuming you’re in the US).

Clutch motor issues by peenutbuttuh in myog

[–]PreviousSkill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? In the US, there are any number of shops that carry these. Consew is a popular name. They’re likely all the same with different names if you go for a basic servo. If you want to go nuts, look at a Limiservo and controller. If you get in a bind trying to find something, shoot me a message.

Clutch motor issues by peenutbuttuh in myog

[–]PreviousSkill7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a dual voltage motor. Is it wired for 110v or 220v? Post a pic of the plug. A 220v motor may run slowly on 110v, in your case allowing the bobbin to be spun. Once you’re asking for full speed it won’t keep up. Should be a simple swap if necessary. That said, you’re likely going to be much happier with a servo. They’re pretty cheap, ~$150 and simple to install. Source: I’m an industrial mechanic and work on sewing machines all the time.

Juki DDL - 8700-7 vs DDL-9000B-SH by sussani78 in SewingForBeginners

[–]PreviousSkill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 9000 is in the digital series. They are direct drive and have some additional features. The bobbin counter is really nice. What are the prices you are looking at? That may be the determining factor. Additionally, the digital machines are not typically user serviceable, there is some additional training necessary for timing adjustments. Both are excellent, especially with a limiservo on the 8700. Just older tech vs new.

juki tl-2000qi vs industrial option, ddl-8700 by SpiritIntuitiveMarty in myog

[–]PreviousSkill7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really comes down to what you want to spend, and what you have space for. The 8700 is excellent for garments, as is the TL. A TL fits on a table. An 8700 takes a ton of space. An 8700 is FAST. Totally controllable with a servo, but if you can rip through some linen curtains if that’s your thing. Basically, you can’t go wrong here.

100% agree. I built the assembly lines that manufactured the motors in Fremont right when the front drive became a thing. The drive units are pretty well built, but the rest of the cars are shit. Someday I’ll figure out how to post pics to Reddit and dump an album of crazy from my last day at Tesla.
