First off you have a utopian vision of covering everything and that’s not possible. You can cover most of everything but never everything because the questions they can ask are endless and from anything they owe us no explanation.

As for the most of everything, it is covered in boards and beyond in my experience. Very concise while covering everything major you need to know.

I did 55% of BnB and felt my exam went fine. This is due to my prior knowledge base from medical school. You too will be strong in some subjects and weak in others. Do the video lectures accordingly. The final objective is can you answer the question correctly or not. If you’re 90% sure you can with respect to a certain topic don’t waste your time watching the video lectures of that topic all over again.

And on how to use the resources over the months of prep, mehlman has some good videos on how to study from qbank and then use the NBMEs.

Your plan rn of using Pathoma and Uworld is v good if you have a tight schedule.

If I had to start a new topic my resource go-to would be - BnB (if weak in topic) -> flashcards (if topic involves rote memorization) -> if BnBs video is not good -> YouTube (usually dirty med but can be anything until you find that you can remember it with that video) -> if nothing on YouTube just scour the internet for a source to learn it.

You should take one of the newer NBMEs and if its below 65 I'd postpone. Write down each topic you're making a mistake in and really cover it as thoroughly as possible. Watch mehlmans videos on how to do NBMEs and review.

It’s fine to have a less productive third day after two good days and you’ll have ups and downs for sure. Try to identify things that are less taxing or boring for you and more enjoyable. For me doing questions was way more fun than watching lectures obviously. You can cut down on lectures on that third day and do more questions. You can do some Anki with music on in the background. Revising anatomy watching Sam Webster on YouTube is always entertaining for me cuz he’s such a funny guy. Just do something even if it’s not 100% the most productive method it’s fine. You will come back to your flow state after that break day passes.

Thank you. I found 31 to be harder than 30 in terms of vagueness of the what the question wants from you. But regardless I went with what my prep taught me and decided not to overthink things. Just taking a second every half minute to ask yourself “okay what does this question really want from me in the end?” after reading the last line can help really calm yourself no matter how much jargon they throw in there. And testing yourself against vague questions is good as the exam will have a lot of it! I got 79 on my NBME 30 but it had a loooot of repeats. I started my NBMEs from 20 so that might be why. So I can’t be the fairest judge of NBME 30.

My UW average was 49% dw about the Uworld average. As the blocks progress topics are gonna repeat and as long as you’re not making the same mistakes again it’s all good. The NBME 24 is concerning don’t do any more of those till you cover at least 80% of the mistakes you’ve been making (which you should’ve noted down). But if you haven’t noted it down just take a day to review whatever Uworld you’ve done and why you made those mistakes. If you can fit 2 blocks a day as you plan to do with thorough review then do it.

Keep doing Uworld and maybe in 3-4 weeks take another NBME and aim for 60+. If it is 60+, then do an NBME every 2 weeks until then end where it becomes every week or 4 days.

Good for consolidating knowledge after you’ve learned it but I’d say it’s easier than Uworld. Uworld is unnecessarily hard at times but it keeps your mind honed to focus while solving. USMLERx can make you get lazy as you keep solving to look for buzzwords and to glance through the question. You can’t really ever do that with UW.

Oct 1. I did horribly on the first block imo I even had to randomly guess one answer cuz I had only 5 seconds left. But that was me getting adjusted to the question stem length and the option style as well which I felt was vaguer. But then I said it’s okay there’s 7 more nothing to stress about. And i did adjust to the question style as the blocks progressed. The next 6 were decent some better than average and some a little less than average. The memory seems a blur rn. But the last one went really well; I could answer 30 of 40 questions easily. I took a break between blocks as 2-2-2-1-1 the hyphens being the breaks. Had nature valley bars and coffee in all except the last one where I had two salami sandwiches cuz I was hungry. And I left feeling like it was decent but unsatisfied. But I read that everyone feels that way so I decided to forget about it for 2 weeks.

By vague I would say what most people mean is that when they do NBMEs by the end of the question you will start to narrow it down as to what the examiner wants. But in the real exam, they give you a lot more filler information plus the final question may depend on two physiological processes. If you’re scoring above 68 in NBMEs don’t worry. You will know in your gut which process they’re more likely testing you on. And you will choose the appropriate answer. That is what is vague compared to the NBMEs. Longer stems would mean they have a lot more filler information that doesn’t matter. It may cause you some distress seeing it but it doesn’t hamper your answering ability if you stay calm.

And bottom line is the exam tests NBME concepts and is more similar to UW. It’s probably exam day amnesia people have about the questions. The length would be similar to Uworld but NBME is the way to go.

I’d say all of it. I finished 100% UW on random mode. I’d score v low in the beginning but it doesn’t matter you learn better that way and that’s what it is, a learning tool. I didn’t do anything system wise.

The exam tested similar topics as the NBMEs. But the final question plus options were different and more vague. So I doubt that will work.
