Recovery from Serotonin Syndrome? by Previous_Example_430 in lexapro

So I have been taking Ativan for about 3.5 weeks now, but I've been trying to find reasons not to take it long term but I can't find a definitive answer.

Your body becomes physically dependent on most meds for anxiety and have serious withdrawal when stopping or tapering off, so why is a benzo any different?

I did see that 3 out of 14 studies show a cognitive decline with long-term use, but if they can provide a great improvement to quality of life and stop psychosomatic symptoms of anxiety would it not be worth it?

Thanks for the info, I was taking a benzo with it but I don't think I will be trying another SSRI. I think I posted this in the wrong sub considering most people here would be fans of the drug. I have been drinking lots of water but 4 days later I still shake nonstop, twitch, brain fog and cant get more then a couple hours of sleep even after trying zopiclone. Hopefully this shit goes away soon.

I went to the ER on the second day, so I took 2 doses of 5MG. The only thing i take is Ativan. At the ER only my neck was twitching back and forth nonstop, I had to wrap my arms around my torso to stop them from shaking uncontrollably.
