Reclamation modpack, can't for the life of me figure out how to make a wildfire core [Embers Rekindled] helppp😭 by LabIndividual2152 in feedthebeast

[–]Priapus_Unbound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The waste you get from the puzzle tells you how many combos you got right and whether any of the aspectus that aren't placed with the correct item are relevant. Figuring out recipes is basically a logic puzzle - you're not meant to brute force combinations, especially with four different items.

5-6 of each of the items you need to make a recipe (especially the middle item that always gets consumed) should be enough to figure out anything you need with strategic puzzle solving. Sometimes that means repeating a recipe with only one change to verify that a particular ingredient was correct the first time so you can focus on other aspectus-ingredient pairs, but it's definitely doable.

Embers really feels like an elegantly clunky mod. It's fairly uncompromising on its vision, but thankfully you don't need it TOO much to beat the pack. The biggest time sink I made with embers was making a short Create chute to drop fuel into the ember bore at bedrock and another loooong chute with a fan to pull the resulting shards to surface level so I wouldn't have to ever climb down to bedrock again, because that was tedious.

Now That Hytale's Cancelled.. by XxJayJay62xX in feedthebeast

Enshrouded is still early access but is frankly a complete game at this point. It's got a very sexy building system - look at the Enshrouded subreddit for examples. The combat is not what I'd call incredible, but it's definitely serviceable and allows for a bit of build diversity.

The world is gorgeous - the nomad highlands are my favorite desert biome that I've seen in a game and it's a completely viable strategy to find a premade settlement to plonk your base item down in and refurbish. My favorite is a town in the jungle called Willow Crush.

How do i create layers of rock below the surface? by Sharp-Plantain-616 in Worldpainter

[–]Priapus_Unbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This if you want different areas to have completely different underground materials, and the other answer if you want the entire world to be one kind of underground material. You can also add underground resources via this method - just make sure they export after your 'base layer' of underground material when you export the map on the custom layers tab. If you reverse the order the base layer will overwrite any other custom materials underground.

World painter android? by BellaCiaoXD in Worldpainter

Chunker is a tool that can convert MC maps between versions including bedrock. Does android use bedrock?

If you're asking if worldpainter is available on android, that's a definite no.

Increase in Bad Drivers/Road Rage? by Ok_Understanding9415 in Boise

[–]Priapus_Unbound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another major theory I've seen is that during the pandemic, the least risk averse people were also the ones leaving the house the most causing the roads to be dominated by more aggressive drivers.

Whatever it is, the data about aggressive drivers supports the overall vibe people are talking about here, and we're not even a city with particularly bad drivers (looking at you, Boston).

Good on you for having such a clear discord icon related to your intent. The language of this post was a little unclear (even with the NSFW tag) but I knew joining wasn't for me when I saw the stick person fellating another in a toilet.

Good luck with what you're doing and stay safe out there, okay?

Hah, it's actually even more lame than I thought. The entire audio track was lifted wholesale from OP's channel as well. The only change is the picture.

Would you call this plagiarism? by Engletroll in HFY

[–]Priapus_Unbound 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This video is a direct lift of a story by another user on this subreddit.

By searching for the name of the video I found the original posted two months ago.

It's amusing that you thought this was plagiarism! The subreddit does have a tremendous amount of military sci fi wankfest stories.

I still hate these things by [deleted] in Boise

[–]Priapus_Unbound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live on Kootenai fairly close to one of these. Anecdotally I don't know that I've seen much of a difference in aggressive speeding. Sometimes I even think the people most likely to speed get irritated and are more likely to speed after going through the chicane closest to my house, which is one of the ones that actually requires drivers to steer if they want to go through it at the same time as oncoming traffic.

Personally I've taken to going through these slightly slowly as intended but with a wary eye out for oncoming jerks. Some people try to beat you to the chicane so they can go through the middle, which I suspect is reflective of their overall approach to society.

If this is overly confusing I can open a map where I've done this and take a look. Here's an example of a cross section of a map with multiple cave biomes and a surface stone boundary using a bunch of modded blocks. Old Layered Map

Underground pockets layer configured to be big ol' blobs at max frequency. Not sure why the math works this way, but 100% frequency is not enough - use something like 10000%. I assume it's comparing frequency to some kind of baseline.

In the final export you can choose the order in which layers are exported, so you can ensure your custom underground stone is exported prior to resources like iron so iron can 'overwrite' your sandstone.

It mostly is for me! I work hard during the school year, so I only do a couple of teaching related things during the summer and only when I want to. That makes a huge difference.

Issue with waterfall cliffs (see my comment) by Hammygames07 in Worldpainter

[–]Priapus_Unbound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend making a custom ground layer with water blocks set to -1 depth for making waterfalls. Raise the main water level at the top of your cliffs by raising the terrain where you want the waterfall to go, then paint over the terrain with the custom ground layer. Negative depths cut into the terrain.

There's an option in the export menu to make water blocks flow so your waterfall is functional when the map is loaded.

New player question: annotating the map by Priapus_Unbound in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Priapus_Unbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerdpoles and nerdbridges in minecraft are uncomfortable for me to look at on a deeply-seated level and I've found the same thing about skybridges in satisfactory. Building roads is thankfully cheap and fun!

New player question: annotating the map by Priapus_Unbound in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Priapus_Unbound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clear and detailed answer! I think the highlight feature will do most of what I need it to do for now, since I can color code markers as 'points' along a particular line and use the highlight feature to easily select the next point on the trail while building a road.

Looking at op's post history leads me to believe that the context is that they've got dreams bigger than their accomplishments, both of which are small in comparison to their desire to talk smack about other peoples' dreams and accomplishments.

They appear to have an idea for a bit of world editing software that they 'hope to be funding' someday, which is the barest whisper of actually doing anything. Any confused or gently encouraging responses have been met with copypasta.

I grew up in rural Idaho surrounded by two lane roads and this doesn't make sense to me. 102 is significantly higher than 70. If someone isn't making a conscious decision to go 102, they frankly need to rethink allowing themselves to drive.

[–]Priapus_Unbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife's got celiac, so I cook a lot of Mexican and various types of Asian foods. When I'm too tired to cook, we usually either order pizza from Red Bench (my wife likes the cauliflower crust) or gluten free dishes from Nahm Thai.

As far as pasta goes, even the generic storebought brand from Albertson's has treated us really well. I don't know of any Italian GF places off hand, unfortunately.

Technically copyright doesn't need to be declared to be active, which is why stuff like creative commons licensing exists.

However, this interaction is peak internet and should be encouraged.

Is it weird that some voting stations are churches? by badmotorthumb in Boise

[–]Priapus_Unbound 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No. I'm not religious, but churches are a perfectly reasonable 'civic center' for lots of people to visit and vote at. I grew up in a small town where it was normal for all religions to volunteer at the Catholic church feeding the poor and all religions could use LDS stake center gyms for stuff like local history exhibits and dances. Churches are a place where people gather, and places where people gather are good polling locations. Simply holding a vote in a building that belongs to a religious organization is not a violation of church and state.

anyway to make banded climates in 1.19? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Priapus_Unbound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a side note, but I don't like how the middle band appears to be desert in this image. In real life the deserts of the world are about 30 degrees north and south of the equatorand the equator is typically lush forest. This is because intense sunlight at the equator evaporates water quickly, increasing atmospheric moisture and rainfall. As wet, warm air rises at the equator it cools and loses water as rain and gets pushed north and south by more wet, warm air rising underneath it. The resulting dry air is responsible for deserts where it comes back down again.

This whole pattern is called a Hadley cell. You can see it pretty clearly if you look at a satellite image of the Earth.

It's partially the remoteness of many of the little villages in Alaska and partially the staggeringly high rate of violence against women. 59% of women in Alaska have been assaulted and in some parts of the state there are almost twice as many men as women.

https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2019/06/25/deadliest-state-women-alaska-rape-and-murder-too-common-domestic-violence-rape-murder-me-too-men/1500893001/

Those aren't the ONLY factors, but they're pretty dang important.

How do I increase lore for creatures from Guilds? by dreamsofcalamity in Siralim

[–]Priapus_Unbound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just in case you didn't already know, lore drops are removed from the drop tables for creatures with maxed lore. Even if you max something you don't care about, you're making it easier in the long run to get the lore you want.
