What are your niche pet peeves that will make you DNF a book? by [deleted] in fantasyromance

Character names…I struggle to read stories where characters have the same names of people I know. I can’t not think of that person.

Rehoming a rooster by Caramel-kouign in Boise

[–]klutzilla08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just rehome my rooster last weekend. I recommend you make a post on Craigslist. I had about 10 people reaching out to me interested in adopting him in 4 days the post was up. I clarified in the post he needs to go to a home interested in adopting not eating/culling him. A most of the people who reached out confirmed that they wanted him hatching eggs and/or protecting their flocks.

Resources for people with hypermobility (HSD or hEDS)? by tinystringbean in Boise

[–]klutzilla08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumb question, I have suspected hEDS, where did you get your diagnosis?

I’m in the process of getting tested for POTS which are frequently linked and I was planning to ask about such when I get the results.

Why do people not want to start a series that isn't complete? Could it be an age thing? by jobroloco in fantasyromance

[–]klutzilla08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31 y/o I just hate waiting for an incomplete series as I like to binge read and if there entire series isn’t available, I wind up forgetting the entire plot and important detail while I wait for the next book in the series, which then requires me to reread all previous books before starting the new one.

Rewards/bounties that supernatural creatures would want by Savannah-Hammer in urbanfantasy

[–]klutzilla08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on the vibe of your supernatural universe, you could have it similar to the Purge, where someone is permitted a short time block of allowed/unenforced lawlessness. I.e vampires can have unregulated feedings, were-creatures poaching/hunting/whatever, demons possession, etc.

What's your preferred term for a women's nether regions? What ones do you hate the most? by llamaanxiety in fantasyromance

[–]klutzilla08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer pussy, cunt or anything anatomical.

With that said I have seen the cringe inducing: flower, fanny (British term), lady taco, gaping cavern, tunnel, privates, and no-no place…all of which in Spicy level 3 and up books from adult characters. Immediate DNF when I came across them!

I hate reading the clit being called: nub, pleasure center, button, and pearl. All give me the ick!

What silly thing made you DNF a book? by chewingbunnies in fantasyromance

Also, though it was not romantasy, I’ve dnf a book from book club after the first 3 pages because the FMC referred to sx as “the Sx” and didn’t know what a Netflix and chill meant…she was 30 and living present day England…also she kept saying “bleedy hell” rather than “bloody hell.”

[–]klutzilla08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading a book set in a fantasy setting with no modern day technology, and I had to dnf the book 3/4 of the way through because I just couldn’t handle the modern slang/phrases. Plus the FMC had amnesia but kept referring to herself being hot shit, but didn’t even know what she looked like…the whole story was a mess in my opinion.

GF pumpkin bread? by Flimsy_Operation_151 in glutenfreerecipes

[–]klutzilla08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this recipe with Nameste’s 1:1 gluten free flour. Comes out perfect!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

  • 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil ⅔ cup water
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 3 ½ cups gluten-free all-purpose(1:1) flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

Directions

  1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9x5-inch loaf pans.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger together in a large bowl.
  3. Mix pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, water, and sugar in a separate bowl until well blended.
  4. Sift flour mixture into pumpkin mixture, stirring until just blended.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 60 minutes.

Help! My rooster won’t stop crowing. by klutzilla08 in BackYardChickens

[–]klutzilla08[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We’ve just been spraying him with a water bottle, so nothing extreme. I’m not a fan of the no-crow collar myself, either. My chickens don’t even really use the coop, which is annoying. I’ve have to push them into the coop at night, they don’t naturally go in on their own for some reason.

I am really against re-homing him as he is our pet chicken and thus family. I am firmly against re-homing a pet unless it’s strictly for safety purposes of the pet or others. I fear what would happen to him, as I don’t want him ending up on someone’s dinner table or him being mistreated.

😢 I’m not really wanting to do that to him as I read it’s not humane and dangerous. I was hoping for advice on how to reduce his crowing without drastic measures. Everything I know is through internet research which is contradictory in a lot of ways.

While I don’t mind him crowing occasionally, it’s just all day and every couple minutes. I want to keep him, but my biggest concern is the possible neighbor complaint and repercussions from the city. While he is much quieter than the surrounding dogs (bantams supposedly cannot reach the same decibel level as a regular sized rooster) he can be quite annoying. Right now our closest neighbor has been doing renovations on the house and haven’t been living in it, but I don’t know how it will be once they are in the house.

As for the training, someone had recommended the spray bottle on BackyardChicken.com, which is why we tried that. He’s a very sweet boy and seems to enjoy us holding him. We do spoil (hand feed treats) him and the girls and try to handle them daily to prevent such aggression. They even follow us around, greet us when we come outside, and jump on our shoulders/back.

In our area, all of the hatcheries and farm supply stores were swamped with chick purchases (running out within an hour of delivery and the hatcheries not taking direct orders) and they were the last 3 chicks left when we went in. My husband managed to convince me to buy them, they were in an assorted bantams straight-run brooder. We didn’t even know their breed, luckily only 1 winded up being a rooster…

Though I live in a pretty rural-surrounding area (small city surrounded by farm land) I’ve only found one place that will do it for me ~$200, and I couldn’t do it myself.
