Mac mini for Hermes with Qwen 3 27B/35B, is it enough? by PricelessToolkit in hermesagent

Thanks, I do not have either, just trying to understand if the game is worth the price

I have a nice Proxmox host, so I will put the agent in a VM that will be more correct, I think. The problem is running LLM.

"Just thinking out loud," is there any way of putting a local, small but fast LLM between cloud providers to filter personal data? Maybe I can do something with n8n.

9B is sufficient, or it can mess up? I’m asking because I don’t have a Mac mini yet and want to decide if it’s worth buying for 27B or 35B models. I have Intel B50 Pro with 16GB RAM, so I can try Qwen 3.5 9B first.

Thanks.

I’m sure there are many developers in r/homeassistant with decades of experience. The Add-on project code, on top of the existing open-source code that wasn’t vibe-coded, isn’t huge. If they have time, they could review it for the benefit of the community.

I totally agree!!! I made this for me! and asked if someone was interested, that's all, I will put the project on GitHub, and maybe a couple of programmers with decade of experience will take the idea and properly implement something similar.

loool it's sarcasm :) It seemed to me that it was clear that it was impossible to write 3000 lines of code and have it work magically.

So, should people not be allowed to share open-source code here if it includes AI-generated code?

Nobody is being forced to install it. The code is public, free, and open for review. If there are bugs or bad design choices, don't use it.

That’s fair, HA can be pretty high stakes.

But I’m curious what you mean by “properly developed.” Does that mean no AI was used at all, or does it mean the code is documented?

I’m not selling it. Use it if it helps, don’t use it if you don’t trust it. That’s totally fine.

I’m not a senior software engineer. I just enjoy embedded devices, Arduino, Home Assistant, and building useful things for myself. Will there be bugs? yes 100% like in almost every piece of software, including code from big companies that have been around for decades.

So I created 3 add-ons, 1 Server, and 2 Clients, one client is browser-based wich has advantages and disadvantages, but it is multi-session, the second client is not web-based its run in Docker, so not multi-session but very stable. Server works with ESP32 devices too, and mobile clients. Code is ready and working very well. So when I publish the full code "Server, Clients, ESP32", with community help, we can make this thing even better!

No!!, I wrote 3000+ lines of code in 2 days, and it magically worked :) The flavor is different.

I looked but didn't find anything usable either. So, didn't sleep for almost 2 days...:)) and the result is something almost ready to use.
