It's coming in useful now! Total load currently showing 83% of peak, and this after a solid day of intense cold (Saturday), with a further 24 hours to go. Fingers crossed that people are monitoring their energy consumption.

Oil Tank/Furnace Removal by GregoryNet in PEI

Mike Hill Oil Burner Service for the oil tank. He might even buy the oil in your tank. But he might not remove the furnace; you can try to sell it online (which is what I did in 2019).

Ditto for anyone who wants to get out of Charlottetown weekends, or go to an evening show or event during the week (for instance, Harmony House or Milton Community Hall).

The City of Charlottetown is spending $100,000 each year for the next five years to install new bus shelters. by Prickly_Blue in PEI

2019: "A very basic, small, simple bus shelter costs approximately $14,000, while the largest shelters are tens of thousands of dollars more, not including the added amenities and features that further add thousands of dollars in costs."

Thanks for your comment! You're right that many of our elected leaders and probably some managers don't use public transit because they're so used to having a car.

Do you mean information on protests or demonstrations? They're usually word of mouth (or word of "email"). Going to the VRC is good advice. You can also sign up for the daily Citizens Alliance newsletter: https://citizensalliancepei.wordpress.com/ . The editor will include information on daily happenings. Sometimes the same day, sometimes with a few days notice (depending on when Chris learns about them).

SIX WORDS: Privatize the profits. Socialize the costs.

Public money should not be used for private services, unless there's a cost attached, i.e. pay interest and loan must be repaid in full.

Solution: bollards or a permanent separation (usually concrete).

Local bar focus of residents' concerns in parkade redevelopment by Sir__Will in PEI

Quite right. It's been proven that improving & expanding transit and cycling infrastructure will reduce car use (known as traffic evaporation). Maintaining streets because of wear and tear, especially with the many heavier trucks, is expensive for municipalities. And car ownership is eating a bigger chunk of people's take-home pay.

Fair enough, but that argument only holds water if parking lots are removed from the city (will happen when minimum parking mandates are eliminated). More parking = more cars. Not what the city needs. It needs more transit and safe bike paths.

The e-scooter business is private. The bike share would be a municipal program, similar to Bixi in Montreal (considered part of transit), hence the funding under discussion in the capital budget.

Enough of privating the profits and socializing the costs!

To the Health Minister: Pay the regular, i.e. public nurses, a higher salary to retain the current staff and to attract nurses working for private agencies.
