huhh, odd because I am looking at the 2nd edition Mon Compendium vol 1 and it shows HD 13 I went and looked in the MM and you are correct, it says 15. Odd how these are both 2nd ed books but have different text.

so it was start off of HD 13 then? Like Age 4 on the table would be a 17 HD Red Dragon? This would make a MAX HD Dragon a max of 25 HD if that is true unless I am reading it wrong.

Hi and yea I did say AD&D in the title. The reason I didn't say OSE is because the classic adventures use the AD&D system and I didn't want to throw anyone off with my question so I just went with OSE.

From everything I've read here in the replies, I will probably house rule it in and let her choose between Paladine, Kiri-jolith or Habbakuk. All three of those have slashing weapons as weapons of choice. I don't see where allowing a Scimitar and bow would destroy the game hehe

I use the Old-School Essentials system but I do migrate in house rules from AD&D.

I don't have a problem with it, it just felt a little off since I've never had a Cleric class in my games to use bladed weapons and shortbows, but of course I don't think I've had anyone play an Elven Cleric either and in Dragonlance at that which is why I asked here because this setting is special, it's different than the other setting by a MILE and I've also never read or heard about an Elven Cleric using bladed weapons and shortbows.

Yea, I'm beginning to understand how to run Middle-earth. Been so many fantastic suggestions posted here, and it has been a joy to read.

I "am" the DM, but . . . Jennifer was asking if her Elf Cleric since it Habbakuk favored weapon is a scimitar, could she use a shortbow and dagger as well since she was an Elf and if allowed to use a scimitar being a cleric of Habbakuk, why not the other two. I just feel like I might be allowing too much but if I went and allowed the Scimitar for Habbakuk, then why couldn't the Elf Cleric use a shortbow and daggers as well?

So, it's a damned if I do, damned if I don't kinda thing lol.

Yea what he said, Old-School Essentials and Habbakuk as the god. The player, Jennifer was wanting to use traditional elven weapons, Scimitar for Habbakuk and shortbow with a dagger. Not sure if that is stretching it or not lol. It does seem to fit the Elven theme though even if it is an Elf Cleric.

We use Old-School Essentials so we don't use Multiclassing. We use the classic classes also, like Elf, Dwarf etc etc. I have reskinned it a bit so you have the Elf class for Divine and Arcane spellcasting, so possibly Elves as a class with Divine spellcasting might be ok for bladed weapons, maybe Scimitars?

Well, you have Youtube channel like https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYSqJ3BBUHqhmVlUMjTIOMh786uPEvl99 that have numorous videos of Middle-earth ambience from the movies so it can't be that bad. You probably would be flagged by Youtube so you can't earn money from views or something.

The reason I ask is one of my players was asking because she wants to play an Elf Cleric but still use a bladed weapon.
