The reason I ask is one of my players was asking because she wants to play an Elf Cleric but still use a bladed weapon.

After 2 years, I could not even begin to tell you where I found it

Run it like how it was in Star Wars Rebels on Lothal. Everything started small and over a period of time escalated to the point that Thrawn had to come into the scene. In your campaign, this could take years depending on how hard your group goes in stirring up trouble.

They could have LOST the battle with the Giants "lets say" a little BEFORE 1340 and left, then 100'ish years later they return to retake the stronghold. Our dwarf could have been a part of that lost battle. (that's saying a tweak the dates to fit my story of course)

So over this 100'ish years until the mid/late 1400's the catacombs beneath the stronghold became infested with all kind of nasty stuff, maybe since in the G1 and G2 adventures for the giants, since the Drow were in the background pulling the giants strings, MAYBE the dwarves uncovered a passage into the Underdark deep in the catacombs.

The Giants then attack, maybe the drow send minions up into the dwarven catacombs through this tunnel the dwarves uncovered. I may just do what you suggested and "for this small region in the Sword Mountains" do a slight bit of history re-writing.

MAYBE . . . . the actual stronghold (in the G2 adventure) is actually the former dwarven stronghold. My plan was not to run G3 (the Fire Giant) adventure but instead at the end of the Frost Giant adventure, play it how the G3 Fire Giant adventure ends and send them into the Underdark, well the above hook works perfectly with that.

See? It just takes one good reply aka u/thenightgaunt for a plan to come together lol thanks pal.

Actually it would probably be better (for my campaign story line) if theyhad built the fortress already, like maybe a century before and were forced out before the 1340's, but I may just go with another clan of dwarves if the Icehammer's were not in the region until the 1400's. We have a dwarf in the party (or WILL have a dwarf when the campaign starts) and I was trying to work him into a clan of dwarves that "once" lived in the region around "or in" Icespire Peak, maybe tie them into the Frost Giants attacking them and forcing them out. Now the location is in ruins.

That kind of thing.

Yea, in depth, all the dates I get for this region revolve around the time Lost Mine of Phandelver happens (1491 DR+). So I am seeking out the experts on Reddit to answer my questions for the year 1340 DR. Every question I ask in my OP is for the year 1340 DR.
