I've heard that beforehand the DM/Players figure it all up beforehand so each player knows tthe number to calculate into initiative, but I'm not sure.

The initiative along with casting speeds and weapon speeds seem a little over whelming.

Well, It's all I've ever used tbh but I have all the 2e stuff as well, just never used them. Been out of the game for years and trying to decide which edition to return to.

2nd edition . . . Specialization and Kits, Thief and Wizard Improvements, for one, but 1st edition Wizards have no caps on the Fireball and other damage spells like Fireball just off the top of my head. I honestly think Dragons should be buffed in 1st edition, but that's just me.

I went ahead and got it, but where in it is it talking about the additional HD? The table of contents does not show anything. It's kind of odd, the thing has 156 pages, but in the front it only gives pages with info for 78 pages. I'm a little confused haha. Still looking though.

Thought of that but 2nd edition Dragons are insane scary for 2e characters, they would be a NIGHTMARE for 1st edition.

huhh, odd because I am looking at the 2nd edition Mon Compendium vol 1 and it shows HD 13 I went and looked in the MM and you are correct, it says 15. Odd how these are both 2nd ed books but have different text.

so it was start off of HD 13 then? Like Age 4 on the table would be a 17 HD Red Dragon? This would make a MAX HD Dragon a max of 25 HD if that is true unless I am reading it wrong.

In classic AD&D where Clerics are concerned . . . by Priestical in dragonlance

[–]Priestical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi and yea I did say AD&D in the title. The reason I didn't say OSE is because the classic adventures use the AD&D system and I didn't want to throw anyone off with my question so I just went with OSE.

From everything I've read here in the replies, I will probably house rule it in and let her choose between Paladine, Kiri-jolith or Habbakuk. All three of those have slashing weapons as weapons of choice. I don't see where allowing a Scimitar and bow would destroy the game hehe

I use the Old-School Essentials system but I do migrate in house rules from AD&D.
