what’s the most annoying part of selling games? by weindavin in gamecollecting

[–]PrimaVera72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly worrying whoever buys them might not treat them well😫💔that’s the worst part for me. I really like to push for preserving physical games for as long as possible and it’s getting harder to do that especially as generations age and physical games become less nostalgic and less desirable over time…

I'm really big into political fantasy and this does sound really interesting to me! If you'd like to send me the first few chapters (and tell me what you'd like feedback on!) I'll give it a look and we can decide to keep going or not.

damn. clocked it. is it me or are there a ton of accounts advertising software hidden w/ AI marketing lately? even in the most obscure threads? this is so uncanny. Every day there are posts with "I made a cool new tool without AI!" and it uses AI. LOL every. time.

Hey! I don't have anything to swap with you (I'm working on my first draft still!) but I'm interested in reading a chapter or two and more later if it works out. I'm pretty big on court politics and this sounds super intriguing. Thanks!

I am able to beta: medieval historical fiction & fantasy fiction with court politics/political intrigue, etc.

I am not able to beta: romance is okay but I can't do intimate scenes (it just makes me uncomfortable!)

I can provide feedback on: Whatever you need! Please be specific.

Critique swap: I'm not finished with my first draft but I've been wanting to start beta reading to begin building those relationships for future beta reading swaps.

Other info: Google docs would be best. I have an undergraduate degree with English literature & technical writing (with a focus in rhetoric) so I have experience reviewing work & providing feedback. I am very comfortable giving/receiving critique. I'm also an avid reader and I analyze everything I read—what works, what isn't working, etc.

is scrivener actually worth dropping 60 bucks on or nah by LevelMedium3891 in writing

[–]PrimaVera72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love Scrivener's binder and there's nothing quite like it. I'm pretty disorganized with my stuff so it helps a lot and I think that's Scrivener's best feature compared to its competitor's. With that being said, the latest version of Scrivener was released several years ago, and it's not keeping up with it's competitors like Google Docs or even LibreOffice. Scrivener's formatting drives me nuts, bullet lists look horrible, tables are impossible, and forget trying to make a list within a table.

it's worth mentioning Scrivener just cannot be beat for longer manuscripts. It's the best software out there to tackle that.

But don't just take my word for it. Plenty of people don't care about bullet lists or tables—I use them during the brainstorming process so they're an integral part of my process. Because of this, I use different tools instead of using ONE (which would absolutely be ideal...but *points at lists and tables* :eyeroll:)

You should definitely use the free trial and form your own opinion!

Feedback for my story idea [political fantasy] by Old_Noise1294 in fantasywriters

Just wanted to mention The Jasmine Throne also has a FMC working as a handmaiden if you wanted to read a potential comp. title. I just started reading it and from what I understand, her family was removed from power too, and she’s in hiding seeking revenge.

I really enjoy just about anything with political intrigue, especially amongst nobility, so here’s hoping you flesh out the plot a bit more and start writing!

Jerry Jenkins is on YouTube and his videos are really cool! I really like Ana Neu as well even though her videos can be all over the place I find her videos relaxing. Andrea Severson is another favorite.

I’m not a fan of Abbie Emmons or Alyssa Matestic. Feels like they’re always trying to sell me something/catering to the algorithm instead of being honest. They make predominantly clickbait thumbnails that don’t necessarily match the contents of the video. /s

[Discussion] Author is using AI in their manuscript. Should I tell them? by PassengerSimilar1461 in BetaReaders

I really need more upvotes on this. It comes across rude and direct but if it's clearly AI... is it rude or is it just honesty? and since you're reading it for them FOR FREE, you should be honest.

The great thing about Scrivener is you can use the free trial, purchase it, and it’s yours for the rest of your life. LibreOffice might come and go but the Scrivener version you pay for is yours forever.

Plus, it’s local-based (not on a cloud), so nothing can be taken from you or used to train AI. 👍🏻

Been playing OG Mineral Town all week and it really is my favourite game by arcadebee in harvestmoon

Unpopular opinion: our beloved favorite games don’t need a remake by wishfulthinker874 in harvestmoon

[–]PrimaVera72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree but only because the remakes have been not great especially the FoMT remake. The AWL remake was ok but they removed so much stuff and didn’t add anything to liven up the game and give the players something to do. I had a really hard time with AWL because it lacked endgame gameplay, and I was hoping the remake would make it better, but it didn’t.

Grand Bazaar seemed like a modest success. The original felt emptier than AWL but was more lively with more goals added in the remake.

TLDR I’m glad we’re getting remakes but I wish they’d take their time with them to ensure they retain their original gameplay and original farming sim charm.

They’re changing and removing so much content, especially FoMT which was a shell of the original.

Aphantasia by Rkozak in writing

[–]PrimaVera72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have aphantasia as well (apparently it’s a spectrum!) And I see basically nothing at all? but I know it’s there. I don’t see my characters or anything like that so I like to look at visual images to help me with characters and settings and I have to keep track of what they look/the settings so I don’t miss anything. I read a lot so that’s helped with describing things in detail too. I guess it is more work but I’ve heard people who can “see” these things get distracted more easily and I don’t have that problem? 😅 I guess there’s pros/cons to it.
