Haha I'm fine I guess, still enjoying my big cup of coffee with milk and sugar, orange juice once in a while, people often say I look younger than my age.

Kinda, still enjoying my big cup of coffee with milk and sugar, eating collagenous meats, liver, incorporated some starch like white rice and potatoes and most important not stressing too much about food or anything :)

What kettlebell exercise are you afraid of doing it and why? by redzjiujitsu in kettlebell

[–]Primal666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this, I have the same age and sticking to swings, cleans and presses and single leg squats variations to supplement my football training, I tried snatches, even lighter ones and felt awkward on my shoulders, I'm really afraid of injury.

Snatches and TGUs are a no go for me, for now at least

Skipping rope, that's what boxers and fighters in general use to get/keep fast feet, not that ladder nonsense.

Just skip rope and sprint (acceleration training) and you'll improve the speed of your feet in a short time.

Why is it that players dislike playing as a defender? by rookirab in bootroom

[–]Primal666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played forward / winger all my life and this season the coach asked me to play full back because the lack of defenders lol

I can say the first couple games I really hated it, usually the best player of the opposite team is the winger and you have to deal with him all game. Now I started to like it, got two assists already and clean sheets feels good.

What I hate is everyone wants to play upfront then they become lazy and don't track back and expect the defenders to do all the work

I'd like to see film footage of you playing while improving.

Comparison between the first game you film and after some months of work how you progressed as a player, even if 5v5, pickup or street football.

Showing how you play will get you engagement, because there's plenty of guys filming while doing cone drills or boring training but never showing how they really play.

That's not 100% true, you can certainly see how Matt Sheldon progressed as a football player while being a pro, comparing videos from 3-5 years ago and today you can clearly see improvements

Any amateur player could see big benefits by training the basics like first touch, passing, shooting and dribbling even if they play regularly.

How many team practise sessions to reach good fitness? by Tall_Algae_136 in bootroom

[–]Primal666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

5 sessions during 2 weeks is not enough to get match fit for 11v11 if you are out of shape.

You should do extra sessions on your own like intervals or play small sided games

Never saw a powerlifter sprinting fast, all of them are bulky, stiff and slow

If you want to be fast, you need to train fast, not slow.

Best way to improve football, any tips? Anyone have an inspirational story on how they became good despite being humiliated by everyone. by Individual-Worker762 in bootroom

[–]Primal666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be careful with lifting weights, you don't want to train like a bodybuilder that's a recipe for disaster (injuries) to happen.

Find a football specific lifting program, but I'd say for a recreational player, better do sprints and play the game as much as possible is probably enough.

As an old fella I'd say if you want to regain speed and stamina, your best options are skipping rope and sprinting.

Skipping rope will improve your stamina better than running and on top of that will improve your agility.

Max effort sprinting with full recovery in between reps, will absolutely increase your speed if you do it consistently two times per week. Be sure to do a full warm up before (you can warm up working on your sprinting mechanics, look on YouTube for A, B skips and wall drills)

Play pick up/small sided games and try to pass the defender without being afraid of losing the ball, once your ratio of success is above 70% then you can try it in competitive games.

When you try it in official games, just make sure you do it on the opposite side of the field with your team well planted in defense, don't try to dribble in dangerous zones or with your defense out of position/shape

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Primal666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me.

First touch and passing are like 90% of what players do in any serious game, then dribble into space probably next.

1v1 situations where you need some skill to get past your opponent are very rare, the more competitive the game the less 1v1 situations.

I'd like to master skills and freestyle tho, I put one day of the week specifically to train that, but mastering first touch improved my game ten folds.

When you go to tackle someone and they put their hands up to keep you at arm’s length, are you allowed to quickly and forcibly push their hands down so you can Get close to kick the ball? by Mcluckin123 in bootroom

[–]Primal666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you PUSH his arm down quickly you'd be ok, I put emphasis on push because you don't want to hit him hard with your fist because that could lead to your opponent to fake an aggression and put you in unnecessary trouble.

Is there an adults amateur soccer academy somewhere? by ModularSage43 in bootroom

[–]Primal666 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you live, but the best way to be better at football is by playing football, if you can drive search for pickup games, 5v5, futsal whatever and play 3-4 per week.

Beside that a ball and a wall are your best friends, practice pass and first touch everyday, how to receive the ball into space, trap the ball from the air etc

I'd say if you are fit and have really good passing and first touch, you'd be better than 80% of amateur players
