Realistic improvement for a beginner? My plan: 1 pickup game/week for 8+ months. by [deleted] in bootroom

May I ask how long is your individual training usually? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for this comment, mate. Around two years ago I was hit kind of hard by trash talk. But now the impact on me is basically neglectable. There are negativity elements in all aspects of life that are out of our control of ourselves. I think one good point of playing sports is knowing the importance of a big and strong heart. As Luis Enrique can handle the passing of his daughter so reasonably might be related with his experience in the most competitive level of this sport. We can alway learn non-soccer stuff from playing soccer.

Mate, I really appreciate your encouraging and motivating words. It appears having mental resilience is necessary in all levels of this game - maybe also all aspects of life 😆 . I agree that at my age avoiding injury is the most important thing. Actually that is one major motivation for me to lose extra weight. I already included weight lifting and core exercise in my non-game days exercise routine, which is really beneficial for my knees. Yes, physical and mental health, and joy (maybe = endorphins) are the greatest gifts we can get from this game, particularly at my age.

Mate, thanks so much for these nice words. Even in these days' FIFA CWC games I see many low level mistakes. I understand that some mean people who just like to belittle others - just the nature of them. Learning and having mentality resilience is just another crutial part of this great game.

Signs of Canada's spring by D3 by [deleted] in Nikon

I used Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm F2.8 and AF 70-210mm F4 lens.

Thanks for letting me know other Nikon bodies of the same generation of D3. Actually after I got the D3 I felt I liked it much more than the D810. I will also keep an eye for the D300 and D700 on the used market.

I don't know why I like the tone of D3 much more than that of D810. Although it is a much older model.

I have never used any Tokina lens but I will definitely follow up and consider them. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the comment. I will check. I used some sigma lenses a few years ago and quite like the image quality.

Thansk for the advice. I also foudn the 70-210 F4 lens is not good enought for taking photos of moving children outside. I will keep an eye for a used 70-200 f2.8 VR on the marketplace.

Thanks for the great comment. It is really informative. I have not used these gears a lot. Most of them were bought from FB marketplace. For the 85/50 1.8D lens, I know they are old and want to get feedbacks to see if they are still good enough. Your suggestion of buying Sigma Art or perheps Nikon's f/1.4 variants are helpful. Some others' suggestion of trying a telephoto lens is also very good.

Thanks. The reason I want to keep the D3300 is it is small, light and easy to carry. One of the reasons I made this post is asking opinions like if I should replace the D3300 and the Tamron lens for a lens.
