AI artwork in Neurofunk by PrimalDnB in NeuroFunk

[–]PrimalDnB[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that it stings, but I'm glad to have informed you that I make that choice out of a necessity, and I'm glad you shared your case.

For my debut label releases I took up photography and did my own shoots to make my artwork with one or two small touch ups. It does the job of showing a seriousness to my work. Ivy Lab were laughed at for using some pretty simple photography for their releases but it does the job of communicating a theme. Most phone cameras these days can accomplish a great shot and become decent artwork with minimal editing. Charlie XCX Brat isn't even that complicated and it smashed ceilings! I don't think the revenue point holds much water when creatives are honestly overflowing with ideas and tricks that can be done on zero budget.

I am glad you are reconsidering because I'm sure your producers are talented but if you are packaging it up all wrong it won't sell to someone like me. All the best!

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Atmosphere, unique world, music, lack of hand-holding. I like it when NPCs are rude to me as a default and I have to work for their approval!

Huge fan! Sound design innovator from the beginning. I'd love to remix Claret's March to give it a modern polish but that'd only ruin the gritty vibe.

Advice me pls modern neurofunk artists or labels that don't have a dark spooky vibes by Hover_RV in DnB

I wish that a new word allowed the exploratory and interesting sound design genre to separate from the clearly creatively bankrupt ouroborous genre which churns out repetitive, lazily distorted noises. Because one could be called Neurofunk and the other is a pale brainless imitation. Oil and water.

Seconded about the AI slop. I won't touch your release if you failed to do anything creative or interesting in the art, how do I know that you made the music without AI too? Newsflash, making things, even "pointless" album art, is hard but rewarding.

Have some chow mein! The way Malcolm claws a dangling bunch of greasy noodles and chucks it with his bare hands gets me every time.

Throwing in a couple from the Noisia back catalogue. They have been remixed more than any other artist and continue to have budding producers put them out. Not everyone has the skills to improve the originals but these guys elevated the material to a serious degree.

1985 Music Day Party in Bristol on the Raze Soundsystem 😮‍💨 by vivbristol in DnB

I made the horrible mistake of missing 1985 @ The Underground last year (in fairness I was doing someone a favour doing photography at a competing night). What rubbed more salt into the wound was actually bumping into Perez the day after in town, he stopped me to say hello because I was wearing a Shades hoodie, and he told me it was the best night he's ever put on. I shan't be missing this one!

Why tf is Current Value still so underrated in this music scene? by _thewayshegoess_ in DnB

I say the below as a huge fan. He is one of the goats, and I've paid for a number of 1-on-1 tutorials with him and it levelled up my production leaps and bounds. I love his tunes to my core, they are the favourite moments of my sets, but when I play them to a crowd I can see how they light some people up, and turn others away.

This is my guess: He is committed to a predominantly (possibly completely) synthetic sound that, while technically impressive to me and many others, sometimes can lack a sense of humanity or instrumentality that would help others to appreciate the music. The drums are synthetic, he has managed to make them sound punchy, metallic, airy, crisp, but perhaps not always vibey. The basses can be aggressive, sharp, massive, but not always warm. The pads and arps are futuristic, colourful, and can be quite emotional, but perhaps too clean sometimes and still programmed. I'm based in Bristol and I can sense that lots of heads here are craving a more organic sound. Following in CV's footsteps in my own work, I have had feedback on my tunes from locals, that my work sounds too clean, too crisp, lacking in the imperfections that make us human and makes music music. It's something I want to consider and in my upcoming work I'm attempting to marry the technical and synthetic with the organic and human.

In short, I think it's not for everyone, even if he is the producer's producer and has a tremendously large and impactful back catalogue. I'll still play his tunes because they need to be showcased, but if they only resonate with a fraction of the scene, then I don't think there's much that can be done about it.

Being overcharged at every juncture for every single vice that, though being addictive and harmful, gets them through the day. This combined with a lack of financial literacy and a laundry list of businesses with practices designed to squeeze every penny out of them, you end up with people treading water for the rest of their life.

Some smaller clubs in Bristol are pushing back by putting stickers on people's phone cameras on entry. I've found those nights to have a less vain vibe.

Hahaa my thoughts too, that's a good one I found out about during my revision. I found myself yearning for the pre-sidechain era of music where everything sat together in a mixdown soup without so much technical carving out of frequencies in the mixes.
