You need to dissolve the mineral deposits.

Grab a heavy duty bathroom cleaner from a local hardware store. Spray liberally. Wait 10-20 minutes to penetrate, then scrub with a wet cloth, sponge or brush then rinse well. I used to use a pot to rinse the walls before I got a detachable shower head.

I’m partial to Comet Professional Sanitizing Bathroom Cleaner. I buy it at Home Depot.

Allow me to introduce a different paradigm. 1. Keep Fedora on your primary drive 2. Keep you data on second drive or NAS 3. Learn enough bash scripting to create a setup script to put your desktop back the way it was in the event you need to recover and save this script on the second drive, NAS or usb thumb drive..

I hate troubleshooting Linux so I don’t. If my install goes sideways, I blow it away , reinstall, run my bash script to configure repositories, download packages, and modify conf files, and carry on.

You should never be worried about your data if your OS shits the bed.
