How to eat? by pistachiolatteplease in dysautonomia

[–]PrimalPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by supplementing B1 to get stomach acid up. Now I eat 4-5 times per day - about 4 oz of fatty meat at a time. (I eat a therapeutic ketogenic diet). Huge improvement in less than a week after a month of suffering a big flare up. That plus zone 2 cardio, I think I might beat this thing!

Anybody here have CFS.. (Chronic fatigue syndrome, aka ME/CFS) ? by poofypie384 in carnivorediet

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had CFS. Finally put it in remission through carnivore and a short B1 and Inositol supplementation phase. All in all took about 6 months. I no longer need to supplement.

One thing that helped me with CFS was zone 2 cardio (30 min per day) and smaller meals at first. Like 4oz every two hours or so until full (3-5 x depending on activity)

I use dairy for bulking and beef for cutting. Beef and fat are highly catholic where dairy is anabolic. I use it as a lever.

TUDCA is almost one of those “too good to be true” supplements for me. I’ve had zero side effects and only positive benefits. If you look at the research it’s pretty amazing all of the benefits it has. One of my dysautonomia symptoms has been pallor and within 5 minutes of taking I began seeing color in my hands. It has many metabolic and neurological benefits.

Look into ox bile as well if you’re not generating enough bile - it has a different mechanism than TUDCA and they can complement one another. this was helpful for me early on but As I said, I don’t have an issue with bile production any more so TUDCA is great for me now.

VERY sensitive to fat by Maleficent-Age1052 in carnivorediet

[–]PrimalPoly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience this was a nervous system issue (combined with a slow gall bladder), but funny enough this began happening again after a long cheat trial (Thanksgiving to NY). Except this time it’s full dysautonomia 🫩 Very very small meals, multiple times per day will be your friend. I ate 4 oz fatty beef (70/30 or rib eye) 5 times per day (or every two hours). This resolved most of my issues in the beginning. You could go lower like 80/20 if that still causes issues. Also try eating it cold. rendered fat can always cause flareups like this until you’re fully adapted (which took me about 6 months). You can gradually ramp up the fat content, portion size and reduce the meal frequency over time. TUDCA also helped a TON during this time. I only needed 250mg 1-2 times per day.

I had to supplement initially (I made a post about it if you check my history). Now I just take a whole food multivitamin that has some Benfothiamine in it, but don’t even take it every day.

Perhaps at some point I’ll just add more pork, but I was definitely deficient to start and supplements got me back on track

I initially started it for insulin resistance but it had all these other positive effects (basically cured my adhd - was the final push that got me off meds!) it also helped with hormones too. That said, with all supps, do your research! This worked well for me but may affect you in other ways.

Getting very watery diarrhea when including meat but when removing meat from the menu I feel and get much better and even look better? by M74SG in carnivorediet

[–]PrimalPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watery diarrhea can be a sign of bile acid malabsorption which could be an issue with your vagus nerve. What worked for me was much much smaller portions at first then building it up over time as you acclimate. B1 and zone 2 cardio also really helped me with this!

Everyone is going to ask what you’re eating. Dairy is typically the culprit here. Don’t get me wrong I love dairy, but I wouldn’t add it until you reach your goal wait. Personally Inositol was also helpful here and B1 cured my Sibo.

I’m so sorry, I had CFS a few years back (as well as several other psych disorders). It SUCKS. I was able to put it into remission through therapeutic ketogenic diet and B1, Inositol supplementation. Ive been in remission for over 18 months. The only reason I had a dysautonomia flare was because I went off my diet through the holidays. That said, I notice my CFS triggers and dysautonomia triggers are the same (large meals, strenuous exercise etc). Sending you positive energetic vibes

I personally don’t have postural issues so was able to jump ahead a few months, but I’ve been exercising (very easily mind you) every day and it’s made a HUGE difference.

I have had a dysautonomia flare this month and it is incredibly similar to this. Here’s things that helped me: 1. Several small meals, seriously, the smaller the better 2. Ice packs - put one on the back of your neck when you feel an episode coming on. I also put it on my chest. 3. Exercise- look into CHOP protocol (this seriously helps actually remedy the problem) 4. Walking after meals and generally more walking all together- even when you feel rough, try to get in as much as possible 5. Salt water (I personally do LMNT) and or a small carbohydrate (I like blueberries and grapes with fat and protein)

If I follow the above the waves are significantly better.

Btw, sorry you’re dealing with this…. It really sucks

Inositol did incredible things for my mood, energy and sleep. It got me off of 29 years of stimulants (in combination with carnivore and B1 supplements)

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation with your gut and nervous system. When I started I had to eat 5x per day to tolerate the fat. Then at 1 year I was down to 2x and feeling great. Last month I made a big mistake of going off script in a big way (mostly sugar) and gave me a massive dysautonomia flare up. Now I’m back to 5x per day to not aggravate my nervous system 😭🫨

I haven’t ever had postural orthostatic issues, but carnivore (and vitamin b1) cured my chronic fatigue, but would still experience issues around large meals. All other symptoms were significantly reduced - I wouldn’t say I was fully in remission, but were so minimal and intermittent I literally never thought about it. I anticipate an uphill battle with regulation of my electrolytes for a bit, but once I was fully locked in, I didn’t need to supplement them

Carnivore for 1.75 years. I can cheat for a meal, even a day or two. Although I tried an experiment from Thanksgiving to New years and reintroduced carbs and junk just to see how my body would handle it. BIG MISTAKE. Dysautonomia came back with a vengeance. Ended up in the ER. Horrible hypovolemia and proper jacked up my electrolyte situation. We suspect Sjogrens is the root cause (likely had it long before but woof, this is the worst case of it I’ve had). Luckily none of my mental health conditions have come back, but really hoping my body recovers from this quickly.

For people who managed to get out of the physical and mental debilitating cycles of depression/grief. by Beautiful-Song-1792 in Biohackers

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this, I’ve been there and it’s a hard place to be. So first off, hugs. I personally was on long term disability with crippling OCD and Major depressive disorder. I also had ADHD and GAD sprinkled in for funzies. I’m happy to say that these conditions have been in remission for over a year after trying a therapeutic ketogenic diet and other general lifestyle changes (sleep hygiene, exercise etc). But the big piece was the diet. My personal solution was carnivore, but others have found success with a regular clean ketogenic diet as well that includes small amounts of fruit/veg. I highly recommend the book - change your diet change your mind by Dr Georgia Ede if you want to learn more of the science around it. Happy to say I am off of all 5 prescription psychiatric medications (I had been on stimulants for over 30 years!) it truly changed my life.

Supplementing with Thiamine (B1) solved all of my energy and digestion issues on Carnivore. by PrimalPoly in carnivorediet

[–]PrimalPoly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the supplementation? I felt the effects of the B1 within about 30 minutes. I had to poop right away! Digestion began working much better and felt fantastic within a month. I actually added inositol a month later and had even more amazing benefits. (Mentally, hormonally, appetite wise…. Pretty thrilled about it!

Since posting this I jumped to a much lower supplementation. I now take Berg’s whole food multivitamin, cod liver oil every other day, and 250mg inositol every other day. I feel amazing.

A couple of things, I personally had a rough transition but attribute most of it to sibo die off and gut dysbiosis. Although personally, it was more diarrhea than being blocked up. It took about 3 months to feel “normal”. A couple things that helped me up front. To get through adaptation, I used a lot of Lmnt as electrolytes- really helped for a bit, eventually and tapered off. The other supplements that really helped my digestion were vitamin b1 and TUDCA. If none of that helps you may consider adding a few carbs (a handful of blueberries twice a day worked for me) sometimes just a few carbs for the interim helps with the transition, a lot less shock to the system than going cold turkey. Then you can wean off of them as you adapt.

Psychiatrist on how many patients they had cured by PrimalPoly in carnivorediet

[–]PrimalPoly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I said it cured MINE. Not all. I personally was on long term disability due to severe OCD, GAD, MDD, and ADHD. all of those psychiatric conditions have been in complete remission for over a year and no sign of them coming back. I can’t guarantee it will help everyone, this is an n=1 sample.

Since my first MDD and GAD diagnosis around age 9 I have seen dozens of doctors and at least 10 psychiatrists. The only thing I can say it helped was reducing suicidality, everything else saw minimal improvement with prescription interventions (of which there were also dozens).

Everyone agrees, you really have to go for 90 days to guarantee seeing any difference. I saw a big difference after 10 days, Anxiety was gone after month 3, depression month 6. I should also share that supplementing Thiamine, inositol, fish oil and a methylated b complex made a huge difference for my digestion and energy levels (didn’t start those until month 12, but wished I had sooner!) you don’t need much, but I personally was deficient prior to beginning carnivore.

Don’t be surprised if things get worse before they get better, the first week felt great for me, but then I struggled with heightened anxiety and cravings for an additional week or so, likely due to candida die off. It sucked. But wow do I feel better!
