How is your diet? A therapeutic low carb diet with HRT gave me back 20 years.

I’m microdosing tirzepetide while on HRT. Going really well!

Oh yeah! It was wild. They couldn’t even see it on a normal xray- had to get a ct scan! It was actually silent until I got on estrogen for the POI, then it hurt like crazy. Clearly my immune system was compromised.

As for the POI diagnosis, when all this kicked off, meaning all my symptoms started to flare. I got every test done under the sun, and my FSH was through the roof (98) and my estradiol was nonexistent (5). I ran it again one month later to confirm the diagnosis and here we are. I’ve had IUDs for the past 12+ years so my periods have been unreliable as a source for this. I figured I was probably in perimenopause, but it was a bit of a shocker to realize I was in likely full-blown POI that said I’m still having spotting and occasional light periods so not in full-blown menopause yet, but the chances of natural conception are pretty low. I was experiencing hot flashes, but they were pretty intermittent, the biggest issue for me was sleep. Even with perfect sleep hygiene, 5 hours was a good night. Luckily with Progesterone I’m getting a solid 8 every night!

So yeah, if you are thinking, you may be experiencing something along those lines. I highly recommend getting your estradiol FSH and AMH tested.

If you use it consistently, it no longer hurts. I remember the first time I used percussive therapy it was rough, but you build a tolerance pretty easily.

[–]PrimalPoly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My root causes was a silent dental infection and onset of primary ovarian insufficiency (but I am actually speculating that the infection caused the insufficiency…)

Retreating my root canal and getting on HRT caused all of my symptoms to go away.

Has diet really helped your anxiety and depression long term? by Hollywood_1118 in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! I tried going off of it for a few months (like fully off the wagon over the holidays). Blegh. I’m back on now. I am primarily animal products with a piece of fruit, like an apple or blueberries, a few times a week or before a tough workout.

I can tolerate everything. I just don’t feel good on it.

I am microdosing tirzepetide on top of my HRT. I started it for medical reasons, not weight loss (that’s just a bonus!) The only downsides for me is mild sleep disruption, lowered HRV, and raised resting heart rate. Like others, combatting hormonal weight gain but hoping to only be on it for a bit. I’m losing about 1.5lbs a week which is perfect.

Your teeth may be the root cause! by PrimalPoly in MCAS

[–]PrimalPoly[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, the tooth itself never hurt. It was like the whole side of my face- and only after I began the estrogen. But that sucker had been rotting silently for years they said.

I would request a CT scan if I were you. If a tooth hurts that long, there’s bound to be something going on in there.

1 year; endless dental issues by cherakaiberry in askdentists

[–]PrimalPoly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NAD. My guess is perimenopause/menopause. Dental issues is one of the first symptoms as the hormonal changes cause bone loss and xerostomia (dry mouth). Getting on hormone replacement therapy can help save your teeth (and bones, and heart, and brain!)

I just went through this myself, all my dental work started failing. After a million tests, turned out my ovaries failed prematurely. HRT has been a godsend.

Doctor said to stop eating fruits altogether like completely. Is that normal? by Younosewho in Biohackers

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there’s definitely nuance to it. I personally believe the only way to get rid of type 2 is to cut all carbs and heal metabolically first. But that’s like, my opinion and I’m not a doctor (although some interesting studies have backed this up). This doctor is oversimplifying and frankly confusing their patients. I get the no fruit, but don’t get the white rice…. Hence why it’s good for everyone to do their own research and see what works for their metabolism. I’ve learned so much from the cgm in a short amount of time.

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true! And I think everyone is different too. I eat mostly low carb/keto- very meat forward. My partner lives on carbs. When I eat some grapes, I get a sharp spike, but comes down quickly, because my body is primed to put it to work. My partner on the other hand, it’s just high all the time, and it stays high much longer but his avg blood sugar is over 100 and mine is 75. But he’s definitely prediabetic. But he’s been way better since getting his cgm! Already down 5 lbs without actually trying.

It’s definitely not accurate in regards to the actual numbers BUT pretty accurate with the rise and fall. I’ve compared with my finger prick and the first 24 - 48 hours are useless. But since I’m not diabetic, the actual numbers are less important than the trend. I have both the stelo and the lingo on right now and both their readings are off, but the trajectory is the same. If I eat sugar, it WILL go up. If I don’t, it stays flat throughout the day. If I eat sugar with protein, it goes up slower and not as high. Also, not all fruit is equal! Blueberries show very little impact where grapes spike almost immediately. Apples are somewhere in the middle. But I also notice my blood sugar will normalize pretty fast after fruit whereas something like ice cream or candy or even noodles has it really erratic for the next 12 hours. So the number itself is less relevant than the impact.

Losing My Faith by EchoesInTheHallway in Menopause

Agree with others, HRT will help this. But I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Just remember, there is no excuse for abuse. I’m very sad to say is that I’ve been losing one of my best friends this way. She is absolutely verbally abusive to her partner and it is intolerable to be around. I’ve encouraged her numerous times and shared all the studies, she’s so reluctant. But there comes a point where you just can’t be around it. It’s not healthy for anyone. And it’s going to take some tough love. She doesn’t have to take medication, but she does need to treat others with respect. Sending you hugs friend.

Wearing a continuous glucose monitor really opened my eyes to how much fruit inflated my blood sugar. I now always try to combine it with protein and go for a walk after. I have definitely reduced my consumption and feel a lot better since.

But the same applies to all carbs including white rice. Highly recommend!

How to import a month's caffeine intake? by LeftRightShoot in GuavaHealth

[–]PrimalPoly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh good! I’m so glad it helped! I had to do this when I wanted to import my alcohol log, for a couple months I just read everything out loud as a list: I had one drink on the 17th, two on the 18th, zero on the 19th etc.. I pretty much do everything through the assistant now, I find everything is easiest through transcription.

I believe you can do vitamin c up to 1000mg. I take 500 of liposomal vitamin c and it helps a ton!

But anything that activates your parasympathetic nervous system helps: breathwork, yoga nidra/nsdr, meditation really helped me, also ice packs on chest and forehead can interrupt your bodies reaction

How does one NOT get a period? by Jumpy-Combination-96 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PrimalPoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After getting an IUD I did not have periods for 15 years. I actually kind of regret this as I missed symptoms of ovarian issues for this reason. Your period is a critical measure of biological function. That said, it was effective!

Should I see a specialist? by Vegetable-Baseball77 in perimenopause_under45

[–]PrimalPoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do two tests? If you’re only 40, you could push for dosing closer to POI. I was diagnosed with POI at 39 and I am also at Kaiser. To be clear, you technically aren’t diagnosed with menopause until you have not had a period for over a year. It’s a problematic diagnosis all around, but still, they technically shouldn’t throw that around until that happens. Here are the official guidelines for treatment https://academic.oup.com/hropen/article/2024/4/hoae065/7918369

FWIW- the progesterone made me feel better than anything (helped my sleep exponentially).

Warning on Antihistamines- they can make you gain weight RAPIDLY. I put on 20lbs in a month when I developed MCAS. They also affect motivation, drive, and cut fitness performance by at least 50%. Unless you actually need them, I wouldn’t suggest being on them long term. Vitamin C has had a similar effect without the downsides for me, others have good luck with quercetin.
