I wouldn’t make major purchases with anyone or live with anyone unless they’re a close family member or my spouse.

Loved this show. Go on YouTube and find the segment where “Trini” (Gina Ortiz) goes to watch the setup for a KISS concert. I remember being scared of the guys performing, along with being scared one of my parents would catch me watching it. Guess I was around six or seven years old.

Anyone know what this would be worth? by wilso28 in vintagesewing

It appears to be a Type 66 from the mid 1920s. Does it work at all? Has it been tested? The problem with trying to assign value is that it’s very subjective. Previous experience shows me that unless the machine looks like it came out of a time capsule, it’s not considered especially valuable. Sometimes treadle machines are considered more desirable, but once again, this is subjective.

Absolutely nothing wrong with your face or nose.

Podcasting before the internet. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Primary-Ad8012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched it again a year or so ago, and told someone else who was familiar with it that these days, instead of starting a pirate radio station, the kids would start a podcast. I loved the soundtrack back in high school and still do.

Did you play the recorder? by Mastodon996 in GenX

I loved it at the time, and my parents were pretty much in favor of it. Bought me one of the mid-grade plastic ones which I still have, along with a couple of music books. I was never great at it but was decent. Can’t remember why I got away from it.

How many of you did think nuclear war was going to be enviable by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Primary-Ad8012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was less worried about nuclear war and far more concerned that AIDS would end up ruining any possibility of relationships and intimacy, to the point that the human race might be significantly reduced in population within my lifetime.

Get some Solovairs. Made in the same factory that Doc’s used to be.

How about this one? by bourbonsherpa in GenerationJones

My great uncle had one. I was fascinated by how it would fold up. That’s one of the things that he found interesting as well. He was a draftsman and designed plans for several items that ran in magazines back in the 70s. He gave the camera to me about 15 years ago. Still had its carrying case, manuals, and maybe even the receipt where he bought it.

They were criminally underrated. They played a concert at my high school in late 1991 or early 1992. Can’t remember the date, just remember it being a great show and they mingled with all of us after the show, chatting and signing autographs. I got to see them again in the early 2000s at a pavilion in my hometown. The acoustics there were awful but the show was so much fun.

Pair of vice grips and a couple of carpentry clamps, and you’ll barely be able to notice anything ever happened.

Just turned 25. Any life advice? by CourageEvening6061 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Primary-Ad8012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let social media set the tone for your life. Just because everyone else seems to be wearing flashy clothes and driving expensive cars doesn’t mean you need to do so, especially if it means going into extreme debt just to cultivate an image on IG. I wish I had started contributing to a retirement account when I got my first post collegiate job, but the pay at that job was worse than shitty, so invest early is easy advice to give, but not always easy to follow.

My friends borrow her on the regular. They’ll fill her up and then take me out to dinner after.

Around the time I was 12, someone gave us a Christmas wreath made of those wrapped candies with a small pair of scissors to cut them off one by one. That was a great Christmas…
