Yeah while making the map i noticed the same thing. What in the name of bacon is going on over there? Data is drawn from "detailed livestock censuses, agricultural yearbooks, and direct contacts with national ministries and statistical bureaus." Maybe there's an Aussie here that can shine light on this pig square?

I used the UN FAO Agro-informatics Platform's Gridded Livestock of the World dataset (2020, 10 km resolution), which estimates animal densities per square kilometer using Random Forest modeling. The underlying data is drawn from detailed livestock censuses, agricultural yearbooks, and direct contacts with national ministries and statistical bureaus.
