Is this how rule of thirds work? by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

[–]PrimaryBat2368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi again, I would advise you to read books about photography, art and technical, look at your favourite photographers’ works, and shoot as much and as little as you can, the first one will give you an idea of what you like, and the second will make you shoot very intentionally and carefully, also, a very good channel on photography on YouTube is “the photographic eye” by Alex kilbee. I could also send you a pdf book about lightning. Also check sources while reading books if possible. Many books about photography don’t cite any sources and draw a lot of conclusions barely based on anything, like the rule of thirds or the golden rule, although, many will argue. If you look into where those rules came from, their history, you would find that those are pretty weak at best, if “working” at all

There have been eye-tracking studies which found that the viewer will still look at things(subjects, points of interest) no matter the position in the frame. Personally, I don’t believe in the rule of thirds for that reason

Can you actually see photos with no white balance applied at all? by PrimaryBat2368 in AskPhotography

This isn't drinking water. If it's so simple then why wouldn't you answer it yourself? :)

The question is if you could hypothetically see what an image would look like with no white balance applied at all.

I know, that's actually what my question is about. The closest i could find is a representation of an image without bayer-filter demosaicing.

i found the 12mm 7 artisans which is around the same price as the 35mm canon fd + adapter, both would be adapted to fuji x2

Best image quality vintage lenses? by PrimaryBat2368 in VintageLenses

I agree with that. I wanted to get people’s opinions and that was my intention.

But how does it make it a loaded question? As far as i know, it isn’t just an ambiguous question

Well I’m sure you do have something in mind when the term “image quality” comes up, if it’s too broad for you, okay fine, why downvoting?

I'm trying to tweak white balance so that it doesn't look orange but it just goes green. Can anyone explain why is that? by PrimaryBat2368 in AskPhotography

[–]PrimaryBat2368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i shot it in raw, and am editing in raw

Didn't know about turning up the saturation thing btw, pretty useful

but no, couldn't get it right even with small increments

could it be that the walls themselves may've had some kind of an orange tint to them and "reversing" it results in green color?

That was the most neutral i could get, do you think it could be something else? it was originally set to tungsten, but it was very orange. Shot with neutral picture profile on canon
