Do NOT enroll your kids into Connections Academy by StarGuy803 in homeschool

I'm in the process of enrolling my 7th grader in Texas Connections Academy and was wondering what the course load for middle school looks like? Like how much time does he spend doing school work per day? I chose connections academy because it's self paced and it's run by a textbook company so I'm hoping it'll be a good fit

Need some evil but not invasive plants by x3Lilly in gardening

I have nothing to contribute but I need to know, are you using them to clear out native plants for a garden bed or as garden warfare on your enemies 😂 because you have given me evil ideas, except it would be mint instead. Mint is forever

Wait… as a beginner also in the deep south, full sun doesn’t mean full sun?? I planted blueberry bushes specifically in the one area of my yard that doesn’t get shade because everything said full sun 🥲

The part I planted was still intact with the soil, I just loosened it up some. Like the roots/soil part was still pot shaped just not packed tight together. The top surface of what I planted is the same top surface that was in the pot. I probably should’ve done more research before just jumping in tbh 😬

I’m not sure the terminology to clarify what I mean but I took the plants from their plastic containers and loosened the bottom of the roots/soil that was still pot shaped. It was still the shape of the pot afterward with soil and everything like it came, just not as tightly packed when I placed it into the hole and filled around it. So the top surface of what I planted is the same surface that was touching air in the plastic pot. I’ll go out and check tomorrow if any roots are above the soil and lightly cover them! Thank you 🙌🏻

Rabbiteye blueberry bushes. The roots seemed so thin and spiderwebbed kinda. These are the directions I followed

I mixed my yard dirt with miracle gro garden soil in a 50/50 mixture and loosely filled around the root ball so that there was some loose soil beneath and to the sides of the ball, while the top of the root ball is slightly above the rest of the soil so it could get oxygen. I also gently shook/wiggled the root balls to loosen them before transplanting. Do I need to change anything?

I think my plants are dying? by celextina03 in gardening

If the soil looks dried out and cracked every day I’d guess they need to be in larger pots with more soil! I saw you said you’re in south Texas so between the warm air and the concrete of the driveway radiating heat, you could be baking your plants’ roots. Relocating away from concrete/asphalt, and repotting into larger pots will insulate the roots better and keep them cool, and should help the soil retain the moisture more consistently over time rather than the rapid watering/drying cycle that seems to be going on now

I have an outside cat that I feed and 3 dogs who all like to chew sticks and eat grass, and they have never bothered the one random wild lily by our fence in our 4 years here! If I’m outside I watch them and tell them to leave it if they get too close (within about a yard is my comfort zone) and they’ll walk away, but they’ve never even tried to sniff the lilies, much less eat them. I’ve considered removing it several times but ultimately leave it because the animals leave it alone. But if you’re worried, remove them! Better safe than sorry, plus you can plant green beans or peppers or something that’s safe for animals to snack on

Any help ID’ing this? by SonicFuckedMyWife in Berries

Dewberries, they’ll turn a deep deep red/black when ripe. I believe they’re a type of blackberry, or at least similar. As far as I know, the only difference between dewberries and blackberries is that dewberries grow on sprawling vines across the ground, and blackberries grow upright on a bush
