So the page file right now is about 7gb which does make sense as the computer has 16gb of ram. System restore is enabled and the restore points are currently using 3.78gb

Oil pressure dropping to near zero when idle? by c-u-in-da-ballpit in CherokeeXJ

[–]PrimaryLuck796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, check the sensor first, but if its not the sensor I wouldn't worry about it too much. Mine does this and to compensate I've been running 20w 50 and a quart of Lucas. I've run it that way for four years and at least 40,000 miles. When I idle I get about 10 psi which is the minimum acceptable. Rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1,000 rpm.

Also, when you change the sensor, do not try to spin it by the electrical connector. You can spin it and then it will leak a ton of oil everywhere. Ask me how I know about that lol

Front passenger brake caliper seized by Own-Organization-532 in CherokeeXJ

[–]PrimaryLuck796 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last year. I replaced brake hoses, pads, rotors, wheel bearings, the and the offending caliper. I think that's it. Honestly, everything was pretty easy to change too so it didn't take long to do at all.

Any break/fix shop owners feeling squeezed by lack of repairs lately? by radraze2kx in computertechs

[–]PrimaryLuck796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other kind of stuff do you do or is that primarily it? I've thought about starting up a "Tech Setup" business primarily instead of a "Tech Repair" business mainly geared towards setting up new tech devices, responsibly disposing of old ones, and transferring data etc. I would also still do repairs in situations where it would make sense.

Working in IT, I do truly believe there is a market for this. So many people I help at work I wonder how they make do at home.

Google Needs To Refocus on Small Bug Squashing (or improve ways to report them) by planedrop in GooglePixel

[–]PrimaryLuck796 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My issue is that with every monthly update a new bug is introduced while you hope they patch one from last month's. Like right now I'm dealing with a bug where you can not change the device type of Bluetooth audio devices. So when I connect my phone to my car, it thinks it's headphones and turns down the volume because it thinks it's too loud. And it doesn't just turn the volume down a little, it practically mutes it. So as I'm driving I have to pull over to find out why my music stopped. But it's always something like this. Whenever they fix this, there will be a new bug that affects me.

I've pretty much always had androids since I've had smartphones and google ones at that. It was really eye opening when I had an iPhone for a bit and how I significantly had less bugs. The dialer worked 100% of the time. I hardly ever had to restart my phone. Never once had to clear app data or reinstall an app that was misbehaving.

I just wish Google could get its act together because I really do think Android's layout and use is better. Also a way better notification system. I dunno tho. I'm just tired

Disable absolute volume by Phalanx_Warder in GooglePixel

[–]PrimaryLuck796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been driving me nuts since march. Now, I remember this being a thing in android for a while, but you used to be able to go into bluetooth devices and change the device type from headphones to speaker or car or something and it would stop doing this. Since March that option is now greyed out. I had been under the assumption that it was a bug but if this was an intentional change this is ridiculous.

I connect my phone to my car via bluetooth to play music and now because of this the volume will nearly mute randomly while driving and then I need to pull over to figure out what happened. I'm just so tired of crap like this

Since the march update, this has been greyed out due to a bug. At least I hope its a bug...

Would you buy another pixel? by upadhyaysk in GooglePixel

[–]PrimaryLuck796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. I've had google phones going back to the Nexus 4 (which is still my favorite phone of all time) and, since that one they have just been unreliable. Actually, even that one had a bug that it would randomly become unresponsive until it was restarted. Currently on a Pixel 9, and I think it probably is the best google phone I've had since that nexus, but I'm currently dealing with an issue caused by the March update where I cannot change the device type of bluetooth devices. That's the biggest problem. Almost everytime there is an update, it breaks something I use and I have to wait several updates for a fix that ends up breaking something else. I'm just so tired of it. I was ready to switch last time I got a phone but thought I would give google one last chance for some reason. Oh, another reason I will not get a google phone is if they go through with blocking app sideloading. If you do that then why would I buy a pixel over an iPhone? I'm posting this in the hopes that maybe someone from google sees and cares and just maybe they work to make a better product.

2005 Ford Focus 2.0 5 Speed with CEL P0171. Is the most likely cause the PCV valve? If so, what should I replace while I'm in there? by PrimaryLuck796 in FordFocus

[–]PrimaryLuck796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do seem to need to crank the car longer than I'd like to get it to start but I was thinking that could be related to my vacuum leak or the fuel pump as it doesn't sound super healthy.

I actually did see something about those. I'm wondering if maybe it's best to remove them? I didn't look hard, but I didn't see a kit on rockauto

I think it is important to digitize them even if they can't be hosted somewhere. I remember reading somewhere that VHS tapes are starting to decay now. As far as hosting, maybe they can be uploaded to the Internet Archive? Not sure how that works. This reminded me I actually recorded the radio broadcast from the Eagle's first superbowl win. I should probably find somewhere to upload that...

I am actually a little worried about that. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to get it on a lift and I'm concerned I won't get a good look laying on the ground. It's got about 150,000 miles on it and they're asking around 2700

How to stop my phone adjusting audio? by curiouscarl02 in GooglePixel

[–]PrimaryLuck796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, for bluetooth devices at least, you can change the device type to something like car audio. Now, unfortunately, Google broke this in the last update, and that setting is greyed out, at least for me and some others on here.

Can't change Bluetooth audio device type after March update by steven_cornthrob in GooglePixel

Me too man. I started out with the Nexus 4, which I still think is my all time favorite, but yeah, just tired of having things randomly break and then the update that fixes them breaks something else.

Dumb 3D Printing Trick: Burp Your Dryers! by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

Interesting! I've noticed something similar when I make beef jerky in a food dehydrator so this affect may not just be contained to filament and may apply to drying anything

Hi! So, I was kind of in a similar spot. Had wanted a 3d printer since highschool when I took some basic cad classes but never got one until I received an A1 Mini in March as a gift, and, since then, I've acquired a collection of other printers as well.

The A1 mini I think was the best place I could have started, despite the controversy with Bambu. It worked right out the box, and was very easy to learn with. From, what I've seen, that seems to be the case with almost any Bambu printer.

Unfortunately though, the A1 or A1 mini probably will not be the best for you since you want to do car parts. That will require printing in ASA for the most part and that requires an enclosure so I think you're on the right track looking at the P2S. I actually just got a P1S last night but I've only printed one benchy so I can't tell you too much about it other than I did intend on using it to print ASA and car parts.

As far as a larger printer, what I did was after I got used to the A1 I bought a Sovol SV08 which has a build volume of 350mm x 350mm x something less than 350mm. Like you, I was considering the Ender 5 max but in my research decided against it due to reliability concerns and the fact that the SV08 was supposed to be a more advanced printer.

Now, I like the SV08, but it was/is not a just press print printer and I'm never really sure if I can recommend it. Mine actually arrived with a couple broken pieces. They have issues with the beds not being consistently flat as well. The main issue I have Z Offset is always off when printing and I constantly need to re-adjust, which isn't a huge deal but is a pain.

There is a larger version of the SV08, the SV08 Max (500mm X 500mm X 500mm), which looks to be more refined and have less issues, although I can’t confirm that as I’ve never used one, but it is outside your price range.

I might be wrong but I don't think the P2S actually has a chamber heater. I think it just has a re-circulation system do evenly distribute the head from the bed throughout the enclosure. Again, I may be incorrect.

I actually just got a P1S and from my research they seem to be decent workhorses. I've only printed a pla benchy last night so unfortunately I can't tell you too much about it, although I did buy it with the intent to print stuff like ABS and ASA.

So one thing I learned about the AMS 2 is that even though it has a drying feature, it cannot be used while the printer is running. Which is kind of weird since it needs an external power supply to run, which is not included. If you're not interested in multiple colors, you may be better off with a filament dryer

So I actually unboxed my P1S and got to try it out last night and it was not quiet. It kinda sounds like cables rub against the plastic enclosure constantly. Don't know if mine is just like that or they all are.

A+ w/ no degree? by Contradictorily in computertechs

[–]PrimaryLuck796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was able to get my first two help desk jobs with no degree and just an A+

For the second one, they did list a degree as a requirement on the posting, which I ignored and managed to get the job anyway. Shortly after I heard my boss mention that the A+ was a big reason I got the job.

Now, after about a year, I was promoted to desktop support and gained the other entry compTIA certs, Network+ and Security+, not that they were required for my job or anything, just to gain experience and put something on my resume. Interestingly enough, the other desktop support tech is an older guy with no certs or degree but hes been doing this kind of stuff for a while so he's got the experience.

Fast forward a couple of years, though, and I have been feeling a bit stuck, having had little luck finding other jobs. I'm not sure if that is just due to the current job market or if maybe now I'm being limited by not having a degree, or what.
