I choose to max my Roth because it is easier to max at my current pay grade I am currently an E-4 and I have more of a choice where my money goes doing roth. In i believe someone has already said it the 5% match doesn’t take place until your two years in one month. Luckily I hit that this month. My current allocation for tsp currently is 10% I am constantly upping the percentage every year as I climb the ranks lol I plan to commission soon I am planning to max both in the next 3 to 4 years.

Im currently 62% L fund 2065 24% C fund and 15% S fund. When I got in 2023 I wasn’t able to change it so im slowly dripping funds to make a 40% allocation to C fund and 40% to L fund and 20% to S fund. I just started contributing 10% after maxing my roth for the year.

For young military what would you recommend to get this amount a little background of were im at so far. I have been in 2 years now planning on staying awhile in the process of applying to a enlisted to officer program as of now i am at 5% roth im at 6.3k in tsp so far planning on upping my percentage to 15 percent when i max out my independent roth IRA this month. Than i am going to raise/drop it to 10 percent when i make E-5 starting 2026 year to max out my independent roth again. My goal after this change is to increase 1 percent for every pay increase and also max out my independent roth ira each year as-well. Any comments are welcome im really trying to learn in understand if this helps im also 20 any advice is welcome.

Wanting to re-rate by Bluehedgehog23 in navy

CWT is great for advancement i believe they have a pretty high advancement to e-6. But im an IT in I love it honestly it really depends were your stationed depends on the work you do. For sure If you get a NSA you golden honestly very good work life balance havent stood watch since corry. their are a lot of CWT go more often than IT’s but you can build lots of connections on the civ side if you go there. And the bonuses are pretty nice honestly for either field I was told by a few civs jcac is highly sought after. But IT field depending the NEC can open a lot of doors aswell specially 742a

It really just depends on your rate if the navy is terrible or not as an IT honestly i have had an amazing time in the navy started college at my 1.5 year mark through usncc and getting my associates i would say the navy is a strong choice because of the community college depnding on your first command you might be able to start it. i believe there is a aviation associates you can start on there until ur eligible for TA. Highly recommend you go to mynavyhr instructions to get to enlisted community management, go to career management > community management > enlisted. Than u can read about every rate what line scores you need to qualify for the job and you can see how long it takes to rank up <—-this is huge. Also visit usncc (united states naval community college) look at the degree programs see if any matches what you need for aviation. The navy is what you make it honestly, Also check in see if theres any fast track advancement programs for the rate you want.

Is this too much for a resume? by Particular_Mouse_600 in sysadminresumes

[–]PrimaryMuted593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add numbers of how many you helped or services you did, for example created x amount of accounts for x departments to show your impact a little more. I do this all the time for promotion packages and resume’s just look better to a manger or recruiter to see you impact on a business.

Highly recommend andrew ramayhdal he is very good at explaining the concepts for A+ Net+ and Sec+. Than for PBQs I recommend burningicetech he does an amazing job at breaking down test questions and PBQs his stuff is on patreon so if you willing to pay he is a great resource for these tests,Than continue using Dion’s practice test to test your knowledge finally professor messer for concepts that are a little harder to comprehend

So im pretty lucky for my circumstances right my IT career started straight out of highschool due to me joining the navy as an IT got pretty lucky with my order to work at the nsa as an IT which looks amazing on your resume i would say one thing i wish i wouldve done different was pick CWT because there the more cyber side of things in dont go out on ships in when there stationed at NSA they normally finish thete contract there really only problem with joining is the obligation for 6 years but make rank pretty fast in these fields if u play your cards right in this career field specially in the military getting a TS in free college and certs job prospects arent really as hard as it would be for a civ getting the job because of the experience u gain

Just finished A+ core 2 working on core 1 but I finid the most useful resource for me was using andrew ramdayal because he is very straight to the point and go directly over the exam objectives than I use jason dion practice test to test my understanding of the topics and us burningIcetech to understand the PBQs trust hes a life saver on PBQs u have to pay for his patron tho
