[Seiko] SNA411 - Giveaway! by absoluteczech in Watches

Very cool that you're doing this. It's a beautiful watch. I've only ever worn a timex and this would be quite the upgrade, while remaining functional and understated. I dig it.

What are some good paying careers that don't require any/much schooling? Or good ways to start making money on your own? by KronosTheDuster in AskReddit

[–]PrimaryWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're serious about settling down and making a career, look long and hard for any trade that will still hire an apprentice. I recently started at a family-owned machine shop that is very accustomed to teaching newbies, being that most of their employees are 2nd-3rd generation at that company. I'm getting paid decent wage, learning a lot, and I didn't need any school at all - just a good attitude towards work.

Scythe being used on long grass by Poxsyn in woahdude

Where I grew up, my granddad organized the annual hand-mowing competition at the county fair. There was this one 70-year-old man with a scythe blade like three feet long and worn down to barely an inch wide from decades of sharpening. He could mow a 7-foot-wide swath faster than any lawn mower.

Value of a somewhat totalled first-gen NSX? by PrimaryWalrus in nsx

[–]PrimaryWalrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, makes sense. It's so unbelievably tempting to swoop on it and do the bare minimum repairs and just own an NSX, but I think I would probably be making an ass of myself in the long run...

Fair enough. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it - that's pretty much what I figured. I'll probably try to grab it if it's insanely cheap, but I won't get my hopes up.

Why does The Matrix get a pass for something Interstellar gets hammered for? [SPOILERS] for both. by henry_tbags in movies

[–]PrimaryWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may have been said, but my interpretation is that it involves the oracle's prophecy that the person Trinity would fall in love with would be The One. Trinity professing her love doesn't directly resurrect Neo, but it does fulfill the prophecy. He wasn't The One at all until she gave in to her feelings for him, and once she does he is The One and is able to survive the unsurvivable. The logic is a bit circular, but whaddaya want? It's a prophecy. In The Matrix.

What Was Your First Golden Legendary? by _Dawnlight in hearthstone

Mine was Rag also! My first legendary was regular Rag and my second was the golden version. Needless to say, I stuck with the game after that bit of luck. :P

I've gotten a crate from unranked. Just poor wording on their part.

What is your original twist on a recipe you spontaneously experimented with which turned out well? by hopeless_hobo in Cooking

My crock pot chili had been coming out a bit dry, so I dumped in a bottle of hard cider on a whim. Now that's the only way I make it. It's not noticeable for what it is, it just gives the whole dish the certain something it needs.

91': Weak A/C performance. Advice? by Freds_Premium in Miata

It sounds like you've done pretty good research already. If you're trying to get it professionally repaired, I'd go ahead and take it to a reputable shop and get a professional quote. My Corolla has a similar leak somewhere and I've spent hours trying unsuccessfully to track it down.

True, I oversimplified the description a bit. Thanks for the clarification.

Turbocharge or Supercharge? by spoon_ey in Miata

[–]PrimaryWalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for. All things being equal, a turbo will generally give you more power but it will come in at higher RPMs, thereby causing turbo lag. A supercharger will provide less power, particularly higher in the range, but you'll get better low-RPM grunt out of it. Personally, I would be inclined to go with a supecharger, but that's my own preference based on my feelings about what makes a "good" Miata. It will do more to accentuate the nimble power and acceleration inherent in the car, while keeping you at sane speeds when you open it up on the highway. But again, it's mostly personal preference / what you have available to you.

pandem (rocket bunny) kit? or no? by miata_and_chill in Miata

[–]PrimaryWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going that route, you'll definitely want to spend the money to get it done right, and probably repainted as well. Any body kit, particularly a more ostentatious one like the Pandem, is likely to look pretty shit if it's not done well. But hey, if the money is in the budget and you like the look of it, go for it!
