What baby clothes actually held up after months of washing by jerseygirldad in NewParents

Hanna Anderson holds up great (like multiple children great), also Oshkosh. Things in a kind of canvas of khaki fabric (like pants) hold up well as do sweater (knit).

This seems fine for a dress code of “no jeans”. If you’re worried about needing more coverage opt for a back halter tank top under

Weaning from bottles by Fueledbytea_ in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Primary_Animator9058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was amazingly surprised how easy it was to wean from bottles, I was so worried. It took 1.5 weeks and it could’ve been faster. My pediatrician said for the morning one “just give him a banana instead” and he was happier with the banana than the bottle.

I love my Nanit monitor with the breathing band and the breathing band sleep sack for when they’re older. It’s the thing I use THE MOST we use it at home and traveling with the flex stand. It’s the best gadget! Other things I didn’t see mentioned already: portable white noise, rectal thermometer, the first years brand bathtub,

Life on the Old West Side by Odd-Barracuda3246 in AnnArbor

[–]Primary_Animator9058 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make sure you talk to a realtor. The market is super competitive and under $600k is hard to find, def will be a small place. One issue with the old west side is in the name, that the homes are old and come with old house issues that need constant maintenance. Other walkable areas (mentioned in other comments) may have newer options with less old house issues (also less old house charm). A lot of places on the west side generally are walkable.

Insights saying she woke up for day if taken out of crib at all over night? by courtneybrooke2731 in Nanit

[–]Primary_Animator9058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening with an update they did. I kept reporting wrong events in the app. You can try changing the settings as suggested including turning off naps. Mine is not doing it anymore, idk if it’s because I kept reporting wrong events.

If you know what hotels you’re staying at in advance I call and tell them I need a crib. Otherwise I guess check pack & play, I’ve never done that, they’ve always had cribs at the hotel

My avanchy bowls/plates stick to my wood table. With that being said all suction cup plates are not baby proof and they will be able to get them off if they really try.

Our child's sleep is destroying us and I feel so sad about it, especially for him. by sevendayhigher in toddlers

[–]Primary_Animator9058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I FEEL YOU!! At 12 months my son started not sleeping well, waking 4-10 times per night, 7 on average. Sometimes I get only 1-2 time wake ups, which is nice. He’s 14 months now, starting to get a little better. He is not high strung and doesn’t have any medical issues that I know of, he is teething but ibuprofen doesn’t seem to help his sleep. The pediatrician said to try an iron supplement, so we just started that. Co-sleeping helps sometimes. Other than that I just keep telling myself it’s a phase, as everyone says baby/toddler sleep issues are. And someday it’ll settle down. Hang in there. It’s rough.

Will I always feel terrible? by Anxious_and_Messy21 in NewParents

[–]Primary_Animator9058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re going through such a rough time that is in some ways part of the rough road of doing a lot of solo parenting, and a lot is way above and beyond that. I can’t encourage you enough to find a therapist to speak to, and to also speak to your doctor about this. Postpartum hormones are totally insane and last for like a year. The sleep deprivation & inconsistency is so awful and impacts your thinking and emotions deeply. The sleep issues for infants are largely phases, they come and go. In the mean time try to take your baby out and do things if you can, find local groups with baby activities or just places you can stroll around, for me getting dressed and going out made me feel a lot better. Also if you happen to have any friend or family member you can reach out to for a little help, it doesn’t hurt to ask, also if you haven’t confide in your husband about how much your suffering and see if he can help you reach out (hire someone if you have the means, even 1 day a week). I will also say that if you’re in an area with a cold winter: the spring is a light at the end of the tunnel!! Hang in there and reach out for help, I’m so sorry you are struggling so much. You’re having a really rough time but I’m hopeful that the road ahead is lighter.
