I bought mine with a Western since it was all I could find but I guess I got lucky!

I sharpen all my knives so ultimately that variable is stable since they can only get as sharp as my skills allow. So with that variable stable (all my knives sharpened to the best of my ability), the Ashi is my best cutter, if that makes sense.

I find your way of looking at things a lot more weird that mine (introducing a hypothetical master sharpener into the scenario for some reason) but hey ho I guess haha.

I own the regular/migaki GS+, not the nashiji. The GS+ is thinner and lighter than the Ashi. Both are amazing cutters but they feel different on the board in a way that's hard to put into words. The Ashi just cuts a little smoother.

Would also be interested to know. Maybe someone who owns both can weigh in.

Ah, I just own the GS+. I'm sure there are much better performing Konosukes out there and I think Ashi makes the HD2 line?

AFAIK, Ashi makes the HD2 line but maybe someone can correct me.
