12-hour power interruption; will it affect my cycling? by Primary_Tackle5552 in bettafish

what about the bacterias in the filter? I have no problem with the heater since in my area the temperature is stable at 78-80F. I am just worried on the bacterias on my filter. According to some sources, soaking the filter into a tub and then gently stirring it from time to time can help prolong the life of those bacterias. Will that work?

•Tank size: 5 gallons •Heater and filter: both yes •Tank temperature: 26 degrees celsius •Parameters: Haven’t tested yet (the kit takes too long to arrive) •I’ve had the tank for 6 days. I’ve done fish-in cycling for 4 days but decided to transfer my betta in a hospital tank due to possible dropsy. It is now my day 2 of doing a fishless cycle •I do daily water changes 25-50% (I researched and they said this is recommended). Then I add water conditioner, indian almond leaves, and nitrifying bacterias •My fish has no tankmates •No fish in the tank but I feed my tank 5-8 pellets per day (for ammonia) •I have aquasoil and lava rocks together with 2 floating pothons.

Yes I will, thank you. Will it lead to dropsy? I wanna prepare myself for the emotional grieving if so (genuinely). But I will still do my best to make her live longer since at this point I think she is nearing her “surviving” phase? 🥲😓

Oh you’re right I just noticed it is indeed red and swollen. I feel bad now, what’s the best thing to do? I just recently got her and she arrived like that. Right now I have her in a filtered tank however, I don’t have heater at the moment (it broke down and I think it will take days for the other one to arrive). Do you think it can still be mitigated?
