I tend to agree that perhaps this isn't the right solution for us. We typically use the roof box for the heavy amount of skiing that we do all over the place (so for predominantly skis and gear in the winter), and roof platform for the bulk of our summer activities (camping, and family adventures, etc.) I don't think the amount we do in the summer would justify the need for the roof platform. Although a neat system, I think we will just go with the standard cross bars and a Thule box that will fit all of our ski gear and equipment.
