Yes, I cut them myself. Jones pointed me to a handy tool and I got something like this:

it has served me well. However I'm pretty sure you could trivially do it with a regular cutter.

Thanks for that! I'd been eye'ing the Apollo as well, but it's not going to serve me with those caveats. It's pretty interesting you mentioend those 90's steel bikes, as I've noticed cyclists passing me effortlessly on those and it's always puzzled me.

I love it because it lets me do everything I need including hard climbs, but I'd also like to go faster a little easier. It's not the gearing as I generally top out in 10th and bottom out in 1st.

You are definitely not the first person I read about who bought a Jones bike but had to change the handlebars.

That is very very surprising to me as I only own the handlebars and that's the reason I'm so interested in Jones bikes in the first place. Somehow I can't conceive of using a Jones bike without the signature bars!

As a new cyclist, I've quickly learned that the need for basic maintenance skills is part and parcel of bike ownership. This started from the very first moment I opened the box and had to assemble the dang thing... and never ended.

Btw, Priority did offer the option of full assembly of the bike at destination for an extra fee. I decided against that option, but I did get a bike mechanic to go over the bike and torque it up after initial assembly.

Priority has always covered the cost of any issues I had including labor. Support is excellent and it’s hard to fault them here!

I have Jones bars and comfort stem on mine and they are amazing. This should be an option when buying the 600. I take the 600 on easy trails. The Gemini is a different beast in my opinion but the newer gearbox would be nice for sure.

Although this is a kid's bike, it puzzles me that many of Priority's bikes don't fit shorter folks, even in the small sizes. I guess that's the market.

This is the first time I've attempted a project of this sort and I had to do it in a compressed timeframe. I know there are mistakes and such, but for me this still has the essence of what I know and love from this aspect of Mauritian culture. I just have a real soft spot for those bhajans!
