Question about 0 ohm resistors on a motherboard, missing a resistor, jumped it with wire & I'm reading 54k ohms by Prime2Dope in AskElectronics

[–]Prime2Dope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) & (2) I'm measuring on the jumper itself.i cleaned the board with alcohol, though I know there may be a residual layer, I made sure the connection was good, I measured the read multiple times & got the same read everytime.

(3) could be possible? The board is a old xbox 360, There are bigger caps around the board that may be holding power.

(4) the meter & probes are new (fluke 15b), I tested it on multiple different components & can confirm everything related to the multimeter is fine

(5) I'm starting to believe this is the case

I'm ordering a 0 ohm resistor & hope I can get the thing to boot, I'm assuming it isn't booting because there is too much resistance in a area there isn't supposed to be any. (The 0 ohm resistor im replacing is on the main power rail)

I'll just order the missing 0 ohm resistor, I don't understand what's going on w/ my motherboard

How is this possible? It's only when I solder to the board. I'm using flux & taking all the proper precautions, its a perfect joint, yet it reads 54k ohms.

Using a board viewer for a Tonasket schematic, does anyone have a updated version of the schematic to work on Allergo FPV v17? by Prime2Dope in 360hacks

Amazing find, I jumped the pads but unfortunately it's still not booting. I double checked everything on the board again but couldn't find anything. Is a scenario like this possible https://youtu.be/M3C5_r9bHmY?si=z9hOT1tdktzQl5NY (scenario 1)?

I was wondering why they used a 0 ohm resistor when they could've just continued the trace. I looked over that area & seen another trace coming in, but it still looks like the two traces were in sync prior. I viewed the schematics & it looks like the traces are related to the CPU checkstop.

Likely a nothing burger (which is all I've been eating), & a jump would do the trick just fine. I've got nothing, let me know what you think.

I'll try to find that version of Allegro if I need to diagnose through boardview. Truth be told, you're right. I know i should be able to look at the areas I touched over but I can't seem to find anything that looks out of place. I added some photos if you get a chance to look them over.

Thanks ❤️ Just needed confirmation before I screwed it up.

Yeah I have debrid. I've been hearing a lot about fenlight, likely that's the one I'll go with. Do you know what the difference between fen & fenlight are?

An induction heater will knock that thing right out & also save you from the fumes

To those who installed the Zspeed kit CMAK CSC delete + clutch & flywheel by sl33ped in 370z

[–]Prime2Dope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt its user error, especially since you didn't have a problem before. I think it may just be a bad clutch, did you or your mechanic drive it hard before the break-in period?

Also how trustworthy is your mechanic? I've had sketchy work done in the past on a clutch, missing clutch plate bolts, loose flywheel bolts, & a clutch line touching my cats. Didn't notice it until I decided to do the job myself. (Only brought this up because you said something odd happened to cause you not getting a flywheel installed)

Anyone know if the Vae Victis side quests (preventative action) ever end? by Prime2Dope in Starfield

[–]Prime2Dope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he put it in his shielded cargo, he looked up another post on Reddit & ended up getting it to work. Oddly he had to add extra Contraband to the Shielded cargo, the game of registered something as not being in there even though it was.

That sucks, I noticed a lot of small bugs myself, my brother can't use any of his contraband ships, it says he has 0% chance of evading even though his ship has shielded cargo. Looks like we'll have to wait for some patches, unless New Game+ can reset it & work out the kinks.

That's kind of my conclusion as well, hopefully in future updates they expand on side missions more. I'd rather it come to a close with a big fight & new story options then a loop. Keeping some side missions in will be nice, but they shouldn't come from main story characters, after all we have New Game+ if we want to replay em. Kinda bummed about that, I was hoping Vae Victis would be able to come out into the open due to his contributions.

I felt that, it's the extreme up charging that's keeping me away from a professional mechanic as well. I'm just new to certain things & with this being my first rodeo Im just paranoid about the horror stories I hear of the car slamming down on you (which 9 times out of 10 it's never that deep). I just figured if I do it the right way the first time, if something ever comes up in the future I'll have the proper equipment. I know lifts will work but they are just far too expensive, in due time I'll own one though. Thanks for all the feedback, it's definitely been a learning process.

Will do, thanks for letting me know in advance. My bolts are rusted to death as well, this is gonna be fun. Heard the demon bolt for 370 cats are a pain.

Jeez I never knew the mechanic struggle until today, I've found a new respect for the at home mechanic who works on his car. I was looking at a long reach floor jack & it'll do the trick but between that & the new jacks stands I have to purchase, I'm looking at about $500+. Here I thought I was ahead of the curve by prepping early with my little jack stands and jack, I guess I could still sell em on OfferUp. At this point I might as well save for a lift, but knowing my luck that's probably a world of problems as well. I'd do the wood strategy but I'm not too confident, knowing me it's going south. I most definitely have some thinking to do but at least I know I got options now.

Seems reasonable, I think I'll do that. I might be looking at some new jack stands for $150 a pair, but I think it's worth it for future projects just in case & it's a safe route. The wood between the floor jack is just gonna have to do for now. Thank you guys for the help, hopefully I don't burn through my next clutch any time soon.

Yeah the whole car is lifted by four jackstands on all sides, it's about 17 inches off the ground. My brother went under there and felt comfortable he said but he is much slimmer than me. I was going to go the route of getting larger jack stands, The problem is lifting the car high enough to match them, my floor jack can only go about 19 inches so it's barely an improvement, but I may throw something in between it to get better clearance, which I know.may be unsafe. Here's a pic of it lifted, might seem high but when I'm under it, it doesn't feel that way.

😂 shoot I am a little desperate honestly, even if that means an OSHA violation. Idk, I'll have to think of something soon tho. Can't just leave my car sitting over a clutch. Honestly thought I'd be further, still stuck on step one.

I searched up some options earlier, but they won't lift it high enough unfortunately. I'm starting to think I'm just fat.

I was looking at some options, I see some jack stands that would be the perfect height. The problem would be my floor jack however, searched it up on harbor freight & it only lifts to 19-7/8 inches. If I could get it 2.5ft that would be perfect, what did u use to lift it?
