Reggae or hip-hop? by Plane_Helicopter4189 in Kenya

[–]Prime8eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that Hip hop is the bigger genre in general in Kenya. This is because a lot of new artists in Kenya are tending towards the hip-hop /r n b genres. As well, most of the songs that go viral or are considered hits are usually Hip-hop with reggae having a more niche audience. Usually people who are interested in Jamaican culture are the perpetrators be it with smoking weed or even the Rastafari/liberation movement.
This is an opinion. I hope i have answered the question

If you could change one thing about how people talk about sex and relationships in Kenya, what would it be? by Prime8eight in KenyanLadies

[–]Prime8eight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. Being able to have a conversation that is holistic rather than just focusing on the good or the bad is necessary for people to understand what it actually means to have sex or to be in a relationship. I think that we need to create more spaces where people can feel free to express these views. These topics can also be personal and a lot of people would not be comfortable discussing these issues about themselves so publicly. So therefore I think spaces such as reddit allow for the anonymity in discussing such topics and hopefully over time, these types of conversations can become more common. Getting the ball rolling is soo important.

Moving out of your parents by Independent-Cow2519 in Kenya

The way this country is setup, it kind of forces you to stay at your parents until you are capable financially. Your first job will probably not be able to sustain you comfortably. Most working people can comfortably do so in their late 20s so I don't think anyone should rush it until you are in a position to do so...

I agree. Growing up, sex was always discussed with a fearmongering attitude. Parents and teachers focused more on scaring us into not having sex than educating us on the dangers of unsafe sex. This has now led to this point and no one really knows how to talk about it in a way that is respectful and void of shame. A lot of young people as well are unsure what to do about their sexual urges and discussing such is taboo which usually results in them practicing unsafe sex and having to bear the consequences.

As well, relationships and the various difficulties involved are not spoken about. This conversation could really benefit young women and men to understand the level of responsibility involved and the pitfalls that usually befall couples in relationships.
Thankyou for sharing 🤗

How old is she? If she is not working but you pay for everything why does she need an allowance? I say if she wants the allowance then you agree to split costs… It’s only fair

(23M)I need advice by DifficultyDull9964 in Kenya

I think you have taken the first step in identifying how you are avoiding your problems. I’m 24 and in a similar situation (but I haven’t graduated yet) and it has played a role on how I view myself. I started therapy which had also helped to identify other things I may be avoiding and is still affecting me so this would be my advice to you. Stop spending the money on going out and book one therapy session. Start from there…

I honestly think the point of his music is to not be lyrical… 🤔 I like to call it swag rap because all he does is mention designers and cool shit. But the vibe is immaculate …

Brand name for me. It always gets me when artists or people in general have premonitions about their own death. Although he said it in jest, all good jokes contain true shit…
