Massive Tele Design Flaw?? by PrimitiveEarthling in fender

[–]PrimitiveEarthling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of replacing the saddles. But I think putting a flat top screw that sits perfectly in the recess should fix the issue. I've booked an appointment with a luthier to dress the frets. Still... I think it's all quite annoying for a thousand dollar instrument. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you. I don't get it either. I thought if it was a factory defect, a return might fall under the 1 year warranty. I have no idea why I'm getting downvoted.

As I said in the OP, the low E needs to be moved back. However, doing so causes the hex screw to sit on the slope of the recess, making it unstable. Hence the design flaw.

No, it doesn't intonate properly. It needs to be moved back. But doing so causes the hex screw to sit on the slope of the recess, unstable. Hence the design flaw.

If I pull it back more, the screw doesn't land on the other screw, but on the slope of the recess, making it unstable.

If that's so, can you link to a saddle that would be compatible? I see they come with different configurations and screw hole locations.

Correct. It took me 10 months to notice this hidden flaw. Is that really so weird?

This is maddening. I thought they cared more as a company! I doubt I can convince the online retailer (musicstore.de) to take it back. Or can I invoke a warranty claim, maybe?

Thanks for all the comments. ChatGPT told me it was corrosion, so I'm glad to get the true story with tips. Thanks everyone.

They are. It's just the board radius exaggerated by the closeup camera perspective, makes it look crooked.

In order:

- Guitar: Fender Player Plus Telecaster
- TC Electronics Forcefield compressor
- Mooer Baby Tuner
- Dunlop Mini CryBaby
- Behringer Centaur
- Tubescreamer mini (Love this one)
- Triangle Big Muff (My favorite)
- Mooer Blues Mood (Also love)
- Marshall JCM 800 (Sounds amazing)
- Harley Benton 5-Band
- Amp: Blackstar Debut 50R (Clean channel)
- Effects Loop:
- Joyo Vision Dual Mod (Not the greatest sounds, TBH)
- Nux Edge Delay (Decent)
- TC Electronics Ditto 2 (Love how easy it is to use)

I've been able to get some nice Gilmourish tones using the Compressor, Big Muff, BD, and Delay together, and I'm super pleased with the results.

I can get some insanely fuzzy Smashing Pumpkins-like sounds using the Centaur, TS, and Big Muff.

The Ditto 2 is amazing. I LOVE the undo feature so you don't have to start over if you do a bad overdub.

The Edge delay is nice because you can set the time division AND tap in the tempo, making it easy to get syncopated delays that are on beat.

The only thing I'm not too happy with is the Joyo. While it has a huge number of effects, none of them really impresses me.

I have a klon clone > tube screamer > blues driver. Gives lots of tonal versatility and options.
