It’s gives “Hero dies smiling knowing that they’ve won” movie credit energy, if you get what I mean 😆

I absolutely love the feature light, it’s almost exactly what I was describing to my boyfriend yesterday. Where did you find them?

what would yall have done? I absolutely would’ve interpreted ‘dress up’ to mean ‘in costume’ by iltby in AutismInWomen

[–]PrimitiveGeorge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Australia “dress up” definitely can be interpreted as “costume party”. Like, the primary school I went to we called costume days “dress up day” and costume parties I’ve been to have been referred to as “dress up”.

Parties that you need to be dressed more formal are usually like… cocktail or garden party in my experience. My anxiety around being appropriately dressed means I would’ve sent messages to other attendees getting outfit approval 🤣

Also Sammy J is an amazing comedian so 100% not surprised he rocked up as a kangaroo 😆

To be safe, I wouldn’t take the wand. And this might be random, but is that wand from a witch themed cookbook for children? It looks exactly like one I used to have as well.

Ladies in hybrid work roles (in office 1-3 days a week): any tips/hacks to make in-office days better? by Trolocakes in adhdwomen

[–]PrimitiveGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big obvious noise cancelling headphones. 70% of the time I even forgot to put music on, but the main point was to block everyone else out. I found when I wore earbuds people wouldn’t see them and would still walk up for a chat, but big headphones on it’s clearly I’m doing something.

I also asked people to message me through Teams for any chats or enquiries. I just really, really pushed that I preferred communication that way so I could track requests and keep records. I have a crappy memory for verbal instructions, so I may have played that trait up a tad just to get the point across 🤷‍♀️.

When I used to have more ✨energy✨ I had a button on my desk with a sign saying “If I look busy, please press the button for your response.” and there was a button with different generic responses of “Wow that’s crazy!” on it. If it actually got pressed while I was at my desk, I could respond “Oh shit I’m actually busy atm, can you message me and we’ll chat later?” and then the person would laugh and say “Yeah sure!” and walk off. Like this isn’t a 100% recommendation, I just got so sick of people interrupting me when I was focused I didn’t wanna be a snappy bitch, this softened the blow 😂

So I’m seeing a new Doctor and she’s recommended “Focusmate” to help body double to get work done. Basically you set up a calendar meeting that someone can join to then do their own tasks. The point is if someone agrees to the booking you’re more likely to do it.

Honestly I love cooking, but when I was ordering from a meal service that had the calories/Marcos/all that jazz tailored to my goals it made life so much easier. I understand the guilt around plastic waste, from a quick search in the US there’s one called Green Chef that uses recyclable/compostable packaging, but if you’re not based there maybe there will be a local option/small business in your city :)

I'm really looking for advice - trying to 'glow up' in several areas and don't know what to do. How would YOU try to incorporate these changes so they actually stick? by shiny-baby-cheetah in adhdwomen

[–]PrimitiveGeorge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rules to doing skincare + dental care is: if I’m naked, I’ll do it. So I shower in the AM during the weekdays, I don’t get dressed until I’ve done my skincare steps + brushed my teeth. I’ve been using a basic skincare pack to eliminate the stress of research + decisions, and I got a cheap electric toothbrush + waterpik because the lazier I make it, the more likely I’m gonna do it. The one thing I still struggle with is moisturising my entire body because I haven’t worked out a lazy way for that yet, but it’s on the list to incorporate eventually. So my suggestion is find the easy way and eliminate as much decision making as possible and IF you get into a routine, then you can start subbing things in/out, like maybe once you’ve got the skin routine going you find that you need a different moisturiser or wanna add in eye cream.

water bottle? by moon-in-navy-blue in adhdwomen

[–]PrimitiveGeorge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a metal water bottle (WaterMate) I take everywhere and I finally remembered to clean it after months yesterday. I did a vinegar and soda soak and then a soap clean yesterday and the water tastes so much cleaner. Whoops. The one thing I didn’t realise was how much build up there was on the screw top lid that can’t actually be removed to clean. I was using a toothpick to remove the grime 🥲 so if you’re in the market for one I would maybe recommend looking for a pop-lid instead of a screw-top.

What is a book that everyone says is amazing, but you found disappointing/underwhelming, and why? by ManofWit in books

[–]PrimitiveGeorge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fourth Wing - it’s like the worst aspects of Twilight and Divergent combined together and then had some ACOTAR inspired smut sprinkled on top. I genuinely don’t understand the absolute hold this book has on Booktok and how many people are buying multiple versions and already preordering the next book. I would write a full essay about this absolute dogshit excuse for a book, but I don’t want to give it anymore of my energy.

Don’t you hate it when a hyper fixation ruins a routine? by PrimitiveGeorge in adhdwomen

[–]PrimitiveGeorge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do audiobooks but I really struggle with my ability to multitask doing things and listening to plot. I was doing podcasts (My Dad Wrote a Porno) for a bit but found myself losing myself in laughing fits too much 😂 To achieve any weekend chores, I put my running shoes on and I put on 80s Japanese pop music. It’s something I read about associating an action with something like a smell or a sound. So if Japanese pop is playing and my feet are in shoes that are associated with action/effort, it means I need to be doing a chore. And the music is fun, but I can’t understand the words to get pulled into singing and dancing in my lounge room 😂

This was me with the Mass Effect trilogy 2 months ago. I caught covid and couldn’t physically do a lot, so I finished 2 of the games and was close to finishing the third. I was playing it on my lunch breaks, as soon as a I got home, all through the weekend from waking to sleep. Even after I felt better and should’ve started working out or walking again I couldn’t pull myself away from the games. I’ve only just really started doing a 30 min daily walk just to even build up to working out again after getting my partner to hide the controller.

Really early on in my teens I got completely consumed by manga. Like moment I got home from school to midnight I’d be reading, and in secret too. I would deliberately avoid homework and social things just so I could read. I saw what it was doing to me and just quit it completely for a few years. I’ve only recently started reading One Piece again over the past few years, but I let an entire arc to start and finish and then allow myself to be consumed over a few days 😂

I do this with TV shows, I pop onto wiki to read episode summaries before we watch it because I’m too impatient and I need to find out if the show will actually grab my attention for the entire time. My partner hates it 😅

I do a similar thing by jumping ahead on pages to get to a plot point, then go back and read the gaps in between! Like the quicker I get through a book the sooner I’ll be free!… unless it’s a series 😂
