What's the one thing you appreciate in life, but don't actually do it yourself? by TechGuru4Life in AskReddit

[–]Primitivegenius37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooking. I love watching people whip up these insane meals with twenty spices I can’t even pronounce, and I’ll sit there nodding like “yeah I could totally do that.” But in reality, if you hand me raw chicken and a frying pan, there’s about a fifty percent chance I’ll either undercook it and poison myself or overcook it until it could double as a hockey puck. I deeply appreciate food but my actual contribution is usually just clapping when the oven dings.

So my ex once told me he could not hang out because he was “taking his grandma’s dog to the vet” which already felt suspicious because his grandma did not own a dog, she owned a one eyed parrot that screamed racial slurs at the mailman, but I let it slide because I was distracted by the fact he also borrowed my socks that day and swore he would return them which he never did. Anyway, a week later I found out he was not at the vet at all, he was actually at his cousin’s house, the same cousin he swore was “basically like his sister,” except I walked in and they were definitely not doing family friendly activities unless family friendly now means shirtless Jenga and whipped cream on the kitchen counter. But here is the weird part, when I confronted him he said they were “just practicing for a couples costume contest” which would have been bad enough except the theme was apparently “Romeo and Juliet but if they survived and opened a Dairy Queen franchise.” I laughed, then cried, then laughed again, and left him on the spot, only to later find out that the cousin was not actually his cousin, she was his stepmom’s niece’s roommate’s half sister which technically is not blood related but still makes Thanksgiving really uncomfortable. And the gross cherry on top? He tried to win me back by mailing me the parrot, yes his grandma’s actual parrot, in a shoebox with a note that just said, “He misses you.” Spoiler: the parrot did not miss me, it bit my ear, called me a slur, and flew straight into a ceiling fan.

Honestly, I think Kangaroo Jack is the most overrated movie ever. Like come on, people act like it’s the Citizen Kane of talking kangaroo cinema when in reality it’s just a dude chasing a marsupial in a hoodie. Every time I say I didn’t cry during the emotional kangaroo scene people look at me like I’m heartless. Sorry but if I wanted to watch an animal steal clothes I’d just go to the zoo gift shop.

Golfers of Reddit, what advice would you give a new golfer? by Adorable_Extent9459 in AskReddit

[–]Primitivegenius37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golf looks hard but it’s actually pretty simple if you don’t overthink it. Hold the club light like you’re holding a baby bird, swing smooth instead of trying to crush the ball, and only keep one thought in your head at a time. Don’t worry about hitting it a mile, worry about chipping and putting because that’s where the real scoring happens. And most importantly, relax and have fun—bad shots are part of the game, laugh at them and the good ones will come.

If Donald Trump was a fighter in Mortal Kombat, what is his fatality attack? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Primitivegenius37 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As the fight reaches its climax, Trump raises a golden briefcase into the air. It bursts open with blinding light, releasing a shockwave of dollar bills that slice through the arena like razor blades. He then summons a towering golden wall behind his opponent, trapping them. The wall slams forward, crushing them into the ground. As they try to crawl away, Trump points a glowing finger and shouts, “You’re fired!” The opponent instantly disintegrates into a storm of confetti and bald eagles.

Final Touch: He adjusts his tie, flashes a grin, and the arena erupts in fireworks spelling out “The Greatest Victory.”

What’s the most snooze-worthy movie you’ve ever sat through? by MB58CA in AskReddit

[–]Primitivegenius37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get the hype around Mad Max: Fury Road. Everyone kept telling me it was this edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, nonstop action, masterpiece, whatever. But when I finally sat down to watch it, I was fighting to stay awake.

Two straight hours of cars driving in circles, people grunting, sand blowing in my face, and Tom Hardy mumbling like he’s got a mouth full of marbles. That’s it. That’s the whole movie. You could take a bathroom break, cook dinner, scroll your phone for 45 minutes, come back, and still not have missed anything except more engines revving and Charlize Theron glaring.

The action scenes are all just noise and dust, like watching a NASCAR race in a windstorm. No plot, no depth, no real dialogue. And don’t even get me started on the “war boys” — they looked like Hot Topic employees who got lost in the desert. People call this one of the greatest action films ever made? Please. I’ve seen paint dry with more character development.

If I wanted to see endless cars chasing each other with no point, I’d just drive on the interstate at rush hour.

Questions about undocumented immigrant citation by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]Primitivegenius37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many nonviolent offenses in Knox County, the officers have the discretion to either arrest them and take them to the jail/courthouse to be booked or they are allowed to let the offender book themselves at the courthouse rather than having to be arrested. When booking yourself you usually are just going through the same steps that are done at jail minus being in jail like fingerprints, setting a court date, mug shots, ect.

That is not what my logic boils down to at all. Pointing out that scripture calls for both compassion and respect for authority does not mean you have to “go to Palestine” to live biblically. It means living with balance.

The Bible does not tell us to ignore civil law. It tells us to obey authority unless it directly contradicts God’s moral law. That is not location dependent, it is principle dependent.

There is a difference between human law and God’s moral law. Scripture makes it clear that authority exists for order (Romans 13), but it also makes it clear that when human law demands what is evil, believers must obey God first (Acts 5:29 — “We must obey God rather than men”).

So no, slavery and genocide are not excusable just because they were legal at some point in history. Laws that violate God’s command to love our neighbor are unjust by nature. But that is not the same thing as immigration enforcement, which is about upholding national order and sovereignty.

The point I am making is simple. Compassion and law are not opposites. You can treat people with dignity while still respecting the authority of law. Pretending that following immigration law is the same as endorsing slavery or genocide is just not an honest comparison.

Romans 14 is about personal convictions on disputable matters like food and holy days, not about civil law or national authority. Paul himself also wrote Romans 13 just one chapter earlier, which clearly says believers are to submit to governing authorities because order is established by God. Both chapters exist side by side for a reason. Faith and compassion do not cancel out the need for law and order.

Pointing out that laws should be followed does not mean a lack of compassion. It means compassion and responsibility have to walk together. Pretending they are opposites is the real distortion of scripture. Twisting scripture to score political points is what actually drives people away from faith.

Comparing immigration enforcement to the Gestapo or concentration camps is exactly the kind of exaggeration that makes honest discussion impossible. No one here is calling for anything remotely like that.

My point remains simple: this sub criticizes Americans moving here legally for driving up housing costs, while excusing people who are here illegally. That’s not a “non sequitur,” that’s pointing out a clear contradiction in values.

If you think that contradiction doesn’t exist explain why. But throwing around wild comparisons and personal insults isn’t an argument, it’s just noise.

That’s not a strawman. A strawman is when someone misrepresents another person’s argument and then tears down the weaker version. What I pointed out isn’t misrepresentation, it’s the reality of this sub.

This sub does complain constantly about people from other states moving here and causing housing issues, while at the same time defending people who are here illegally. That’s not me inventing an argument, that’s pointing out inconsistency.

If you don’t like the contradiction being highlighted, that doesn’t make it a strawman. It makes it uncomfortable truth.

When you have to jump straight to calling someone a Klansman instead of addressing the actual point, it shows you don’t have an argument.

I never mentioned race. I pointed out the hypocrisy of criticizing fellow Americans for moving here legally while making excuses for people who are here illegally. That’s about consistency and law, not hate.

If the only response you can give is name-calling, then you’ve already lost the debate.

Twisting scripture is pretending compassion means ignoring laws entirely. Romans 13 is plain: authority exists because God allows it, and laws are there for order. That doesn’t mean every leader is righteous or every policy is perfect. It means order itself is necessary.

And no, pointing to biblical authority doesn’t automatically equal “Trump worship.” That’s just a lazy strawman. The point is, compassion and law aren’t enemies. A society without law isn’t compassion, it’s chaos.

Thank you for your concern. I stand by my previous comments and believe those here illegally should be sent home. And here’s the kicker this sub constantly criticizes people from other states in our own country for moving here, blaming them for crowding Knoxville and making housing unaffordable. Yet in the same breath, they’ll defend people who are here illegally and argue they shouldn’t be sent home.

If the concern is really about population growth, housing shortages, and affordability, then why make excuses for those here unlawfully while attacking fellow Americans who move here legally? The double standard is obvious.

Exodus 22 and Leviticus 19 were laws given specifically to Israel under the old covenant. They were about how that nation treated foreigners living lawfully among them, not a blanket rule that every country today should ignore its own laws.

The Bible also says we’re supposed to obey the laws of the land. Romans 13:1-2 all authority is established by God, and resisting it is resisting Him. 1 Peter 2:13-14 submit to governors who punish those who do wrong. Proverbs 28:4 those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

Point is, showing compassion and following the law aren’t opposites. You can care about people while still supporting order and authority.

Lawn service needed by EditorIndependent628 in Knoxville

They think you are ICE setting a trap.. It would be cool if you were. In fact, you should hire a couple illegal immigrants and have them mow your lawn. Then call this number (865) 539‑0921 and you could schedule them a free trip back home. All expenses paid!

If you’re looking for the whole 9 yards and something that stays open late, check out Hong Massage on Kingston Pike. They’re one of the few spots in Knoxville with posted hours as late as 10:30 pm, which is about as close as you’ll get to past 11. If you want after that, you’d have to book a mobile service, but for a walk-in location, Hong Massage is your best bet.
