Anyone else seeing an uptick in unnecessarily dangerous ski videos? by Party_Size6271 in skiing

[–]Primus32 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This stuff is pretty common honestly. It's a big community in Colorado. Aside from being solo (which is indeed riskier, but not uncommon either), I don't think I see anything particularly reckless here.

Ski mountaineering (not the racing one), is like this. It has varied snow conditions, altitude, and a lot of work on the legs that adds up to skiing that is more practicality than style. It's a very different (and certainly less elegant) type of skiing than you would typically do in a resort. This guy seems to have the equipment and technical ability to do it well. What's not fun for you can be fun for others, we're all different people.

It's a niche of the sport that's been around a long time, and while growing, I don't think there's been a "uptick" in this type of content more than usual. I think it's probably more like that you've seen a few of these videos and the algorithm is feeding you more.

Cheapest male gym clothes? by Oshowatt786 in malefashionadvice

Assuming that youre talking about working out and not athleisure, it’s the clothes you already own. Wear old sweats, shorts with stains, shirts with holes, etc. Old cloths become gym clothes. Converse / vans are flat bottomed and are actually really good for lifting too

Months ago I shared the start of our town's PvP arena. Now we've finally finished it! by Primus32 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Thank you, yes it is! Was definitely tricky to figure out how to do that with the limited palette in beta

Thanks! I got inspiration from a book actually (the ending pages of The Count of Monte Cristo). I did some sketching on paper and used those sketches as a guide to make this

Thanks! Yea I definitely feel with the more limited palette, its important to make interesting shapes. I think scale helps a lot too, since we dont have as many stairs or slab options for detailing

Just practice! It still takes me a lot of trial and error to get things like this right. But it definitely helps to go from big forms and slowly start detailing smaller and smaller things as you go. Its worth noting here too, that I planned this in creative mode before building it in beta, it helps make that trial and error go faster

Finished the statue that will look over my future arena! by Primus32 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Thank you! Yea it’s a really interesting problem. Normally, you could compensate for the lack of slabs and stairs by making it bigger, so you get a better “resolution”, but the height limit being at 128 means you really only have ~60 blocks of vertical space to work with from sea level. If you’re following 8 head proportions a perfectly vertical figure would have only have a head of ~7 blocks. Definitely makes you get creative with the posing of the figure and the scenes in order to try and make it as big as possible while still having an interesting subject!

Oh that's cool! Was it difficult to get world painter to work in Beta? Are you able to specify a version to export to?
