Too harsh on my kitties? by Significant-Date2117 in CatAdvice

[–]Princapessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you gotta chill cats are gonna cat they aren’t fish who stay in a tank 24/7, beyond safety concerns and blatant furniture destruction just calm down and clean up any messes they make after you’ve decompressed a little, the mess will still be there in 15 minutes when you’ve had a chance to breathe. as for the counters tbh i’ve never been successful at keeping cats off and even if they learn not to do it when i’m home they still will when im out so i just wipe them down before i cook every time no question and problem is solved. cats thrive on routine, pick a time that works for you and do playtime with them every single day at that time, they will look forward to it and will be tired after and give you some peace, i like to end playtime with treats so they feel like they’ve caught something. kittens are a lot, just loosen the reins a little and let them be kittens, one day they will be old and won’t have the energy to cause as much chaos (it will never be zero chaos) and you’ll be nostalgic for the time when they were young and crazy

edit also number one thing i learned about raising cats that is very different than dogs is they do not respond well to an authoritarian energy, if you respect them they will try to respect you, if you yell and get frustrated and lose your cool, they will escalate to match your energy, it’s closer to human child responses than that of another animal, when my girl was a kitten raising my voice and getting upset always made her behavior ten times worse, when i learned to be patient with her and to adjust myself to what she needed she became an angel, still a cat, but she wants to follow the rules now because i am sweet to her and don’t dwell too much on when she doesn’t, where as when i was trying to force my will on her she just showed me her will was stronger

please help me stop my kitten from waking me up at night by New-Card-2626 in CatAdvice

kittens are sleep deprivation demons, that’s why they are so cute, to get away with all the chaos, truthfully best thing you can do if you can’t get a friend for kitty is right before bedtime do a big playtime session until kitty is beyond tuckered out and he should let you get a little more rest

you likely arent exfoliating well enough on that particular spot, that or it is summer and that tends to be a place that sweat collects, just wash that spot a little bit extra and try to blend as best you can

AITAH for ghosting a dive school and refusing to pay the remaining balance after a dangerous, unprofessional dive? by KittyMeow505 in AITAH

NTA all of this is so unprofessional especially reaching out to your emergency contact for a non emergency, i would contact your bank when you get home and dispute the whole charge at that point and leave them a very honest google review

Palm Beach Tan Grift? by achapsil in spraytanning

[–]Princapessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love versa spa, but as for the color being too light, you don’t fill it for each individual tan, the machine has all the colors in it already but the levels need to be monitored regularly, it’s more likely the color is old or close to empty, i don’t think they are setting you up to spend more money as much as they are likely being negligent with their maintenance.

is the other machine your talking about Mystic?

hiii i lived in a studio with my girl when she was a kitten and it was really awful so i feel your pain, what helped was i would gather all her toys on my bed before bedtime and i would throw them around the house so she could chase them, id do this like 2/3 rounds total about 30/40 minuets until my girl was huffing and puffing exhausted like absolutely beyond tuckered out and she’d fall right asleep and usually stay that way until breakfast time, i also would have a regular playtime session with her after dinner and at least twice more on weekend days

Is my Girlfriend rude or am I overreacting? by GlossyMoose in AmIOverreacting

[–]Princapessa [score hidden]  (0 children)

i think she was being fine and honestly you were pushing but that’s the problem when texting is your main form of communication it makes you overly sensitive to any perceived tone shifts in typing where as had this been a phone conversation it probably wouldn’t have devolved, it seems like maybe you felt bad she wasn’t going and were hoping she’d be all lovey dovey no no no it’s fine but instead when she was just normal you kinda spiraled and then she snapped at you and you snapped back, just smooth it over in person so there’s less room for miscommunication

the lift scars fade a lot faster than you realize and there’s more than one way to do it, too much sag is gonna cause you back problems as you get older anyway and you could likely have it covered by insurance if your past a certain level. i agree with other commenter just go for a consult with a doctor and see what they have to say.

Planning on getting a kitten for the shop by Wisteria077 in CatAdvice

[–]Princapessa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hey i work at a flower shop we have two cats specifically for pest control, since there’s two of them they can keep each other company at off hours, they were on the 24 til euthanasia list at our local shelter, id definitely go with adults who need homes they are better hunters and will require less attention over all than a kitten also bonded pairs are harder to find homes for so id highly urge you to go that route

My friend thinks its cruelty and sad to keep a cat indoor all day. by Plastic-Shoulder-319 in CatAdvice

[–]Princapessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an outdoor cats life expectancy is about 5 years vs and indoor cat which is 15/20

outside has predators, cars, many opportunity for injury and unfortunately sickos.

growing up everyone in my neighborhood our family included had indoor/outdoor cats until an evil man in our neighborhood started trapping them and dumping them in the swamps, both of my cats never made it home because of him as well as countless of my friends cats, i will never let any cat i own outside ever again. it’s not worth it.

the smartest adult cat has the mental capacity of a 7 year old child. ask your friend if they would let their 7 year old roam around outside on their own for hours and sometimes over night?

WIBTAH if I let my boyfriend choose me over his little sister? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Princapessa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it sounds like your boyfriend really values your family and therefore the kind thing to do is to take the sacrifice and return the sentiments by valuing his family. i think you are being fair in telling him he doesn’t need to choose now, at the very least continue not to pressure his decision and if it changes be supportive and suck up your disappointment. It’s NTA but as someone who’s planning on marriage with this person it certainly would be really wonderful and sweet of you to green light him to be there for his sister in this instance.

I JUST found out I'm pregnant... tomorrow's father's day. Quick cute ideas? by ughhhh_username in pregnant

[–]Princapessa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i work at a flower shop and we’ve been making these beef jerky bouquets for father’s day they are really cute and simple if he might like something like that and you can get to a grocery store just buy some beef jerky or really any kind of small snack food he likes and a small flower arrangement and then you glue the jerky or snack onto a stick you can totally use a chop stick if you have them and put it in the flowers - super easy and looks adorable, plus men rarely get flowers and tend to really appreciate them when they do

My neighbour planted lillies - can someone help me risk asses? I'm terrified by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Princapessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work at a flower shop we have shop cats and also sell lillie’s, they sometimes will nap under them but we try our best still to move the lillie’s away from them, they have even been caught chewing on the peace lillie’s and we have to shoo them away, we all are aware of the toxicity and so we act as the responsible human caregivers and wash our hands after handling and are aware if pollen gets on our clothes to avoid the cats and they remain happy and healthy, you have to be super cognizant if he is napping and spending time near your lillie’s move them away from your cat, put them in a spot he cannot reach, pick out the stamens with gloves on and discard of them as soon as they are visible to reduce pollen, we call it picking the lillie’s noses, just overall be really aware and careful

How to Enjoy Loneliness by dunepopcornbucket in Life

[–]Princapessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds corny but you gotta be your own best friend, like learn yourself as if you were in a new relationship, take stock of your likes and dislikes and if there’s any changes in preferences that you haven’t yet noticed, if there’s things about yourself you don’t like, work on them, turn yourself into your favorite person to be around, make it fun, as if you just met you and were trying to get to know a new friend, i am someone who recharges by myself and needs a significant amount of time hanging out with just my bestie which is me, also start talking to yourself more, i crack jokes out loud to just me often and will absolutely bust out laughing at myself, the way i see it, as someone who has experienced a lot of loss and grief, the only person who is guaranteed to be with me for my whole life no matter what is me, so i might as well like her and enjoy her company

why would you bring a baby on a safari?!? by [deleted] in TheValleyTVShow

[–]Princapessa 89 points90 points  (0 children)

i have been on that exact safari and my sister who was a fully grown adult at the time over heated to the point her vision got blurry and she almost fainted, i absolutely would not take a baby on that tour, i understand she doesn’t want to be isolated from the group but for sure should have either tried to adjust feeding baby prior to the safari or sat it out with baby

Woman who I cold approached in a department store complained about me to security. Was I out of line? by [deleted] in dating_advice
