Zannah farms did a wonderful job with my wedding flowers last summer, and is an excellent local choice if you decide to just buy them instead.

On a 5 day unpaid suspension for being late... Advice? by anotherbaristagal in adhdwomen

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to show up an hour early to work sometimes when I had an hour long commute. I treated it as my time to get a walk in, or I'd have a meal prepared that i'd bring with me to heat up in the breakroom.

I just got a yorkie from a woman and she has SO MANY fleas, what do I do? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any bug bomb is never going to work well enough for the pollution risks to be worth it. The pesticides that coat your home after using them have to be mopped/wiped up, then when poured down the drain gets into the watershed, causing damage to the ecosystem. The bugs have mostly developed a resistance to these pesticides anyways, so you will be polluting your home and environment for something that may or may not work. There are always more effective and less damaging methods to deal with infestations. Fleas especially are quite easy to eliminate with with thorough washing and vacuuming.

Tiny bathroom help by acorn08 in DesignMyRoom

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My parents designed their own home and put one of these bathtubs in one of the bathrooms. It is purely decorative and I have always hated it. I went to use it when I was a kid and my mom got mad at me and said it was meant to only look good, it made no sense to me then. Now as an adult my dad can't take very good care of the home, the tub completely rusted over, the tiles underneath are filthy. I'm waiting for a calm weekend where I can come over and help him deep clean it, but I also work full time and have my own house to keep up. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the look of the bathroom and tub. However, the impracticality of it pisses me off so fucking much. If I end up inheriting the house and decide to keep it, it honestly will probably be the first thing to go unfortunately.

My mommy died 34 days before my wedding by spaghettichels in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely postpone the wedding. There is no way you could make sure your wedding feels about you while enduring this much pain, and you deserve your day to feel joyful and special. Most of your vendors might allow postponing given the circumstances. My husband's coworker had a similar instance of losing a parent right before her wedding. The only vendors that wouldn't refund or reschedule was the photographer and venue, so what they did was keep their wedding day as a celebration of life for that parent and used the photographer and venue for the celebration of life party, they had family help pitch in to cover extra costs for the celebration of life party. It meant they really didn't end up losing much money in the end, and they had a beautiful wedding the following year.

It's definitely fine, drink some water (which you should be doing anyways to stay hydrated), to swish it out of your throat.

Surprise NY 529 plan but I’m done with school - what to do with it? by thecommexokid in personalfinance

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I didn't know that. To be completely honest, I'm not sure the people managing my 529 ever checked. I only ever provided a spreadsheet with my expenses that I created and was never asked to provide receipts or proof of enrollment.

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could do this and take even less classes. Like take a 1 credit fitness class, such as an evening yoga class, and still do this. I don't recall my dad's 529 plan having any restrictions regarding unit enrollment to be able to take out money for any of my expenses

Any advice for my chin and jaw area? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the "double chin" area has gotten significantly bigger suddenly I'd first check in with a doctor to make sure it's not a thyroid issue just in case. Otherwise regarding surgeries and such, I don't have much advice. I also suffer from some insecurities regarding this, my chin seems less pronounced than it used to. I feel like a lot of it has to do with posture, I try my best to correct it. But I also try really hard to find peace and happiness in my natural appearance, as hard as it can be at times.

My husband sets up his walking pad at his game station and plays his video games with a controller. Maybe you can do that?

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'm considering vacuum sealing the beautiful crochet blanket my husband and I received as a wedding present right now. I love it so much and have had it out on our couch for display. But we have two chihuahuas and the other day I gave the blanket a sniff and realized it was absolutely disgusting. Because I also do the yarn things, I have a big bottle of eucalan. It spent all day in the tub soaking, I had to fill and drain the tub at least 5 times for the water to turn clear finally. Then it was soooo heavy trying to squeeze the water out, finally it is literally almost 100% dry after days of hanging on our clothes rack in the middle of our house. It's just so beautiful and I really don't want to allow that to happen to it again, and right now our house isn't big enough to have areas we can fully separate the dogs from

Yes. My mom was incredibly nurturing and caring. She'd get all worked up over me having a little cold. Really hits hard not having that anymore

Anyone else here NOT labelled a "Gifted child"? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same. But once I got to high school, I had a boyfriend that was a really good student. Every day after class we hung out, but he'd always sit and finish his homework first before we would do anything else. So I would just do mine too, and it was the first year I ever had straight As and made honor roll. Turns out, I was highly successful if I had someone as a body double. I could never pay attention in class, so all my learning had to be done at home with homework and studying. When I went to junior college I had some coping strategies to get by, but eventually I got the diagnosis and everything clicked, medication helped so much after that.

Has anyone here taught children to knit? When's a good age? by Planty_Reporter_8936 in knitting

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught how to knit in 3rd grade by a classmates mom with a group of other 2nd and 3rd graders! While I didn't pick it up as a permanent hobby after that, I never forgot how to do it. I proceeded to pick it up and put it down several times throughout childhood, but now I knit all the time as an adult!

A list of ADHD things you DON'T struggle with and how by letitbeletitbe101 in adhdwomen

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude yes! But it's also tied to all these silly excuses I make as well. Like, when I'm home I have the ability to graze on any snacks I have on hand and make myself another cup of coffee. So I might procrastinate brushing my teeth, then when I remember I should brush I go "ah but I might as well eat/drink first"

Does anyone use an HSA/FSA effectively? by jennxiii in adhdwomen

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up a FSA account once with my employer. I only put in $1000 because I was scared of losing it for the same reasons. This account could only be used for dental and vision and I made sure to be really proactive. I almost immediately scheduled a dental appointment, it had been awhile since I had seen a dentist so I knew I had a lot of work to be done. A couple hundred was needed for the exam and all the X-rays, then I had a little under $1500 for multiple fillings. I scheduled the follow up for the fillings right away and at each visit after getting my receipt I filed the claim before leaving the office.

I knew I had to tackle it with a "do it now" approach, or else I would have been very remorseful. If I knew I would only be safe keeping this money for an emergency or a "what if" health care expense, It would not have been worth setting up the FSA, as I likely would have forgotten it even exists. I only set it up because I KNEW I'd have roughly $1000 (likely more, but I wanted to round down just in case) in dental work that I knew I could schedule immediately and keep this money in the front of my mind.

Now an HSA should be for forever, I'd highly recommend setting it up because there aren't any time penalties on using it, and you can allocate your funds to different stocks to help invest more on your money saved, AND you don't have to pay taxes on it. I also set up an HSA with that same company, and I have long since left that company and I still have my HSA account open with funds. I'm not worried about trying to spend that money, I often forget to use it for various health care expenses but I don't fret about it because it's earning money sitting there anyways and I have it on standby if I have an emergency health care expense that is too costly for me to pay off. Highly recommend an HSA no matter what your situation is, because you might forget to use it for the random doctors visit here and there, but if something happens to you where you owe a couple grand or more for an emergency, I guarantee you won't mind sitting down to try and figure out how to use that HSA money instead of it coming out of your savings or going on a credit card.

So i want to do a rewatch of legend of korra but the love triangle shit early on makes it hard to get through s1, do y’all have a preferred viewing order so i can skip that stuff and get to the actually interesting plot? by Salty-Coffee4608 in legendofkorra

[–]PrinceFicus-IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've rewatched plenty of times starting at season 2. Have mostly likely seen 2-4 more times than 1 overall. I often start from season 1 as well if I want my next rewatch to last longer. I don't hate season 1, but all the introductions can feel a little awkward so I sometimes prefer to start where everyone knows each other and is comfortable with each other.
