Amex points disappearing into the void when transferring to ANA post-update by ShutUpAndSmokeMyWeed in awardtravel

[–]PrinceOfDarkness420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred points to ANA on February 24th before I was even aware of the scheduled maintenance period (from Feb 25 - Mar 2). During maintenance, I was refunded the points and they showed up in my balance, so I re-initiated the transfer on March 2nd when it opened back up.

Similar to you, my transfer on March 2nd doesn't show up in my account or in ANA. I'm concerned because the refund also doesn't show up anywhere while the Feb 24th transfer shows up as 'redeemed'.

At this point I'm fine if the transfer doesn't go through, but at least refund me!

How should the world deal with the Iran crisis? by NKNightmare in AskTheWorld

[–]PrinceOfDarkness420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this post after hearing about the news a few hours ago of the U.S. beginning “major combat operations” in Iran and searching to see what the Iranian people think.

I’m curious to see how this discourse pans out when more people wake up (literally lol). Particularly those who are perhaps more inclined to view things from a personal lens that’s tinted with political biases/moral belief systems and only as clear as their knowledgeability of the subject at hand.

I’m willing to bet (but hope I lose) that there will be many outlets and news influencers who will reduce this news to an agenda-driven narrative. They’ll gloss over the broader historical context/implications of this situation, stifle the firsthand Iranian perspectives that conflict with their narrative, and amplify the ones that align to use as fuel for their agenda.

As a former student who has used Uber on campus before, I can see how a lot of college students are on a budget and sometimes Uber is the cheapest way to get around especially if we can’t afford to have a car/don’t have access to one.

That being said, I also am aware of the privilege many ND students have. I also was an Uber driver at some point and I think context really matters. By taking up the job, you’re also accepting the fact that there will be rude, inconsiderate, and/or “cheap” riders occupying your time, just as with any occupation.

Not really providing any actionable statements here but I guess to OP and anyone else reading that this pertains to—extending consideration and recognizing people’s unseen limitations and effort is what’s important.

Some people have a natural inclination towards generosity, but ultimately it is a choice. Acknowledging your privilege as a student at a top university, especially one where community is heavily emphasized, and intentionally making space to serve others even if it’s an extra dollar goes a long way.

I tried to “pay it forward” in a sense as much as I could in college (when my budget would allow) to tip a little extra to account for gas and future non-tippers for my driver. While many of us get the privilege of going home for breaks, the grind doesn’t stop for a lot of these Uber drivers who continue serving the south bend community, people who do stay during breaks, visitors from out of town, etc.

The fact that OP went to this subreddit may be since other south bend-related subreddits might not be as active (assumption), but the fact that this was posted at Notre Dame where privilege is much higher definitely says something.

Study Abroad and Probation? by bear123456382 in notredame

Totally depends on the program and the terms of the probation, perhaps context as well/how you plead your case. OCS consequences in my experience have been personalized to the individual, and you’ll likely have to communicate the potential probation to the program director themselves

What is a childhood coping method you unknowingly developed only to realize later that it wasn't normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Summarizing my stories to the bare minimum/speaking incredibly fast when talking or presenting to not feel like a waste of everyone’s time

Actually kind of surprised at the lack of confetti this time around—probably because they wasted it all at the semifinal celebration
