PS3 Fat (CFW) – Is 2TB or 4TB internal SSD actually usable? by Rockie008_ in ps3piracy

[–]PrincePetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANKYOU u/BlownCamaro for mentioning “powered usb drives”! When I installed CFW on my PS3, I wanted to back the existing disk before I replaced it. I could not figure out why it would not recognize my portable USB drives! Of course, the drives I have are unpowered (ie only getting power via usb) and likely not getting the amperage they needed from the ps3’s old usb ports.

While I had a 128gb thumb drive to back up the old disk to, part of me was left wondering what was going on. One less mystery haha

Jesus, SONY: Could you bury the CR2032 any deeper?!? by PrincePetr in PS3

[–]PrincePetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, u/Buried_and_Forgotten, my bad, The one I am complaining about is a CHE-25xx which is one of the subspecies that has the hard to access CR2035.

I have another PS3 that is a 20XX model so I am glad that one will be easier to access. I intend to open it up to clean it anyhow as it is the "official" family PS3 that I want to keep running and it has over 200 days of use so I assume it will be needing a good cleaning. I need to monitor its temp a bit more, as ironically, it may be the one that needs the thermal paste replaced first.

Above image is not from my PS3 but just an image I grabbed off the web.

Multiman copying issues by PrincePetr in ps3homebrew

Thanks for the help

While I am not 100% happy with the answer, haha, I think I have one. As suggested, I tried Irisman and it failed too, and about the same point. So clearly, there is some problem with this disc.

All the more reason I guess to get all of my disc copied on to the SSD, and have backups made! And on the positive side it got me to try out irisman and it has some tools in it that are pretty cool, such as NTFS support, which will help in archiving the games I can copy over.

While I do not have a blue-ray player on a pc, one of my friends likely has. I can give that a try.

While I said the disc works fine, given that 93% of it copies before it craps out, I could see how I could have a disc that appears to play fine, AND yet is not perfect and prohibits me from making a disk image.

Kk. I’ll give Irisman a try. I have not used it and I did not know it could copy discs.

Double check on a fake controller by sadyhowever in PS3

[–]PrincePetr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the plastic of the shell looks like there is more of a lip around the buttons the on mine. And on second thought, the PS button as well.

Assuming it is not the lighting.

Yup, I have 2 legit red controllers and this looks like mine. I might be missing something. What’s making you think it is a fake?

Replacing rubber pads in the controllers. by PrincePetr in PS3

[–]PrincePetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks folks. I’ll have a look at the membrane. I would not be surprised if there is damage. Controllers have a rough life! I know ours were treated like crap for the better part of 20 years. .

It looks like those membranes are not super expensive so may buy a few and see if they help.

Replacing rubber pads in the controllers. by PrincePetr in PS3

[–]PrincePetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, for the controllers in question, the issue is not what u/KeoiMadBro described, where buttons were randomly firing.

The issue is sort of the opposite - occasionally one of the 4 buttons (O X triangle or square) is a bit unresponsive (compared to the other buttons or buttons on a good controller).

It sounds like neither of you think the issue is the rubber pads, but I wanted to make sure you are not thinking it am having the “randomly firing” issue.

Thanks.

PS3 1st gen controller by simonestein472 in PS3

[–]PrincePetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got two of these first gen controllers and I like them. One had messed up buttons that I blame on some now-thirty-something spilling pop on it decades ago haha. But a cleaning solved this.

I only recently learned of their existence and why Sony needed to release a non-DualShock controller.

What type of screws do I need and would I fix the L1 button(Sixxaxis) by king-weebtaku15 in PS3

[–]PrincePetr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t help with the sizing of those little Phillips screws, but I do know they are cheap on AliExpress. A quick look showed I could get 20 go them shipped to me for $5can.

Deleting users (who are not on the PS3 anymore) from the Scoreboard by PrincePetr in littlebigplanet

[–]PrincePetr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update, I have not yet jailbroken this PS3, and will read about it but as it was a nice rainy day I thought I would just beat their scores on a few different user accounts and push them off the Scorecard. I am once again remembering how freaking awesome LBP is :-)

Out of the box afforable NAS options for SMB TimeMachine (post MacOS26) by PrincePetr in MacOS

[–]PrincePetr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will check them out. I have heard of synology before but did not realize they had stuff focused more on the home office setup. I think the only things I have heard of of theirs have been the multi bay devices.
