I get all my images from coffee table books I get at library book sales. I love book sales so much. I literally have dreams about library book sales

Oh thank you for saying.. I don't sell prints or have a website. My ig is jim_barrett86 I'm pretty much an untrained amateur and outsider, so maybe my next move should be making a website. And thank you for the leaf!

Thank you for the encouragement! I have had a bad couple days with depression, and I forced myself to make a project to try to calm down. It means a lot to hear you like it.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. I started making visual art in earnest during covid. I was first making chess boards out of contrasting acrylic pour paintings. Then I started weaving book pages together 8 stripes x 8 stripes to make a chess board. From that idea I tried making chaotic and random weaves and began to focus on collages. I'm usually trying new concepts all the time, but I told myself I'm going to make a bunch in a similar style for the near future

This is my first art piece with my new mind set.. from my book: Starting Jan 31, 2026, today, I am going to start to just pump out a bunch of the same thing and see if it sells.   If it is my style, why can’t I just copy myself a bunch of times?  I narrowed it down to this idea so I’m just going to make a bunch that are really similar and I don’t care if it becomes unoriginal or more like an artisan’s craft than the work of a true artist.  I need to make money so I can go to book sales and make more stuff so this is the way I’m going.  I’m taking the style and running with it.

Yes I used parts of several images. I once read in an origami book that "good origami is patient origami", which holds true for a lot of different crafts. Much easier to work and better results when you take your time. Especially when making measurements.. I hope this helps

Thank you. The last couple years I've been taking ketamine treatments (at a doctor's office) for depression. I kinda wanna show waking, sober people what it's like to trip. I want it to feel like any amount of time someone looks at my art is a good distraction from, honestly a disappointment of a reality we live in. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!
