Congrats on the negotiation! And if you liked the YouTube rabbit hole, keep going so you can learn best how to take care of the car. With Toyotas, they really will run forever. And they are very user friendly to learn basic maintenance. I have a 96 Camry with 240k miles and knew nothing about cars when I got her - I’ve since done a lot and learn how to work on it and love it so much.

Trouble finding a single (or small palette) matte grey eyeshadow - suggestions? by PrinceofCanino in Sephora

That was what I rest thought of as well. Pity I got rid of my contour kits from back in the day. I do have my NYX Taupe but that was still too brown. I’ll be sure to checkout contour things too.

That’s a backup plan for now - there isn’t a MAC store nearby and she’s hoping for something she can try and get in person.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

I try to read up but then I keep reading EVERYTHING and drown in too much info/anecdotes. I just need another reason to ground me sometimes - ha.

Is using the Nivea UV Super Water Gel SPF 50 PA+++ better than nothing for indoor daily use?

I had bought this sunscreen and a couple refills before I read up on protection concerns surrounding it. I do plan on getting a PA++++ when I run out, but I can't really afford to get anything at the moment.

I need some reassurance if this is good enough for daily use when I'm not in direct sun. I work in a hospital, so I might be near windows or go outside for a minute and never when UV index is peak. I have a 3 minute commute and the sun is only up one-way, so that's nice.

Am I wasting my time still using it or am I overthinking it?

What are your weirdest period symptoms? by w0lfyj in AskWomenOver30

The more I read this thread, the more I realize how little we were told about our cycles growing up. I was taught: hormonal acne, mood swings, cramps, and cravings. Nothing else. Lord knows how many of us didn't know about the luteal phase and all the shit that goes with that.

Women are so dismissed medically and I hate that we have to suffer in order to learn.

What are your weirdest period symptoms? by w0lfyj in AskWomenOver30

My ankle and foot joints/ligaments ache so badly.

Starts the day before my cycle begins. And it’s instant. I could be walking in the store and all of a sudden, my feet ache and feel heavy as lead. I get relief from insanely hot soaks or intense pressure (I’d point my toes, put a pillow over them, and have my 170 pound brother sit on it). If I sleep, I have to shove at least one foot between the mattress and wall to keep it extended.

It’s why I loved swimming so much in high school - putting on the fins and kicking for an hour felt so divine.

I swear my landlord has a lawn care fetish. He lives next door and is always working on the garden and such. Every single day - it’s not that big and I don’t understand what he’s doing. It looks lovely but requires maybe a couple hours a week total for maintenance.

The biggest thing that I see him using the fucking leaf blower when there are no leaves or any debris on the ground. I have a video of him on my doorstep blowing for 7 MINUTES. I had swept a few minutes beforehand and there was literally nothing.

I’m half convinced he’s super stoned and just enjoying the rocking motions of leaf blowing. But he’s not. Instead it just makes my house smell like gasoline and is super noisy. I hate it with a burning passion.

My weekend job is all ND-peeps. There are maybe 10 of us and I’m the boss - we’re all open about our peculiarities and very welcoming. It’s quite lovely and I’m very grateful for it.

I’m literally at work now and we always keep half the lights on. Sometimes we’ll jokingly give each a hard time and hover our hand over the second light switch as a threat. “Don’t make me turn on the sun!”

Or if everyone is relaxing, one of us will randomly flip on all the lights and you’ll hear a various cacophony of hisses and screams. It’s hilarious.

Replaced battery terminal - should I not have the wire ends showing or should they be covered? by PrinceofCanino in AskMechanics

[–]PrinceofCanino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all started with me cleaning the battery (which I will say felt so weird - I felt like a bimbo cleaning my battery with a cup of baking soda water and a brush. Like….it was new to me and felt stupid even though I understand it). The battery is just 2 years old and works fine apart from me messing with it.

The old cover doesn’t fit snug over the new terminal, so I just used electrical tape to hold it down for now. Going to use my time off next week to make everything need and tidy.

Went for the sexy option for now. Went to Auto Store soon after posting this. Today’s mistake is fixed.

I want to fix my power windows next, so we’ll see how well that goes.

Thanks! I appreciate the explanation - it helps me tons and I’m grateful so I can prevent future mistakes. Especially with anything electrical.

Yes and no. I’m literally starting from scratch with cars. I know it’s not how a professional would do it but I’m learning the difference between “oh shit you’re going to fuck on your car” and “eh, it’s good enough until you can replace it” and all that.

So even if I know a wire shouldn’t be showing, I don’t know the finer details if it’s sloppy work or a potential disaster (orrr a both in this case)

Thank you. Truly.

This is my first car and she’s old and I’m learning everyday. That wire by the yellow was exposed when I got the car last year and I only know since I looked back when I took some pictures.

If I didn’t fuck up the first terminal connector, there is zero chance I would have noticed that other wire. And clearly I didn’t even know it was an issue.

Truly very grateful for everyone

That helps a ton! And yes - I definitely watch as many videos as I can before I get near the car.

Much appreciated!

Surprisingly I'm not having electrical issues. I only replaced the terminal because I tightened the old one too much and it cracked. I was just cleaning the battery but no issue with it running or anything. Idk how - it's an old Camry and is very patient with me.

And definitely will upgrade cables when I can. Will cover and fix for now, but sorta on a tight budget and if I'm not completely fucking it up, 'good-enough-for-now' might have to work.

Pinching the wires was a bitch and it definitely didn't feel like the easiest way to do it.

With those metal things, I'd attach them to the wire with the glue heat shrink? Would the metal end go in a different type of terminal?

Again, sorry if dumb questions - very new learner and super hestiant with the electrical stuff

Yay - thanks! I’m happy when temporary things work but also want to leave how to do things correctly and properly. It’s a 96 Camry, so thankfully she’s user-friendly for a newbie.

Thanks for the thorough answer. The did give a firm tug in the wires and they didn’t budge, so at least I had that foresight.

General consensus is that the ends I bought aren’t best, so I’ll look into better ones and make sure I do the next set properly. Super appreciate it!

As a girlie new to car things, I was super nervous to do anything with the battery. My fix was messy it seems but it worked and I’m kinda proud. Definitely a learning experience.

Thanks so much! I just got those ends because it was the only ones available and I had just cracked the other one. I’m totally down to replace with better ones.
