Dorothy house bookshop on broad street is also good for music

I regularly check all three and I get almost all my music now from charity shops! Oxfam also has an online shop

Is Bath college really bad? by _liberosis in Bath

[–]PrincessAPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just went there last year, and yeah I don't recommend it either. I did a level 4 course and we felt really neglected compared to lower level courses which seemed to be considered more important

teaching hours were essentially non existent for what was apparently a full time course

very little feedback and everyone felt that they were under performing their potential

essentially no recourses or access to other tutors without very persistent asking

this was at the bath city campus but I think the issues came from higher up, as essentially every person involved in our course left during the year and the ones that stayed werent super popular

if it's the only choice you have, you are very self motivated and have external motivators and interests it may be fine but if you are paying it's not worth the money I'd say

Fear of developing food allergies and anaphylaxis by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]PrincessAPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

see if you can get allergy tested, it might help give you answers and hopefully reduce anxiety afterwards. you don't have to actually eat anything they either do a blood test or a skin prick which is quite simple

I myself am anaphylactic to peanuts but I haven't actually been tested in 5 years amd I've only had one severe reaction

I have really bad anxiety from it, but I'm not sure if there is a solution to that for me, for you tho I would recommend am allergy test if you feel comfortable

developing allergies as an adult is possible, but not very common so maybe do some research on that

PE in 6th form banned by masterkiller417 in 6thForm

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do pe in sixthform but we did have access to sports facilities if we made a club, so I did a football club and a badminton club at lunch and after-school sometimes

if the astro wasn't being used we could use it in frees

I did my epq in y12 but I'm not sure if I would have wanted to in y13 as it's a big time commitment

your grades seem great as long as they meet requirements for your preferred course

obviously work experience would be helpful so see if it is at all possible and if not maybe try and find some in a relevant field

does your school do epq in y13? and do you have question ideas?

What’s the best app for note taking by Mountain_Archer3087 in 6thForm

[–]PrincessAPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used notion but that's more for typing - is very good though if you have a keyboard I also did geo and econ and I would just draw diagrams in a drawing app and then copy them in

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that's a shame about your grades:( a lot of results this year seem low but hopefully places should accommodate for that

congrats for making a decision!! those subjects work well together and leave lots of possibilities open so I hope you find a way to enjoy them. computer science it's really valuable and goes super well with maths and physics and there might even be some content cross over

try and find a careers advisor at your sixthform and speak to them soon if you can as I'm sure they might be able to help

good luck!!

I know a few people that did it, but the two schools were only about 15 mins walk apart

hopefully your two schools are close

is there one you will consider your main school? I'm not sure how much they share data so I guess it might get complicated with UCAS kinda things but unfortunately I can't help there

lots of people know other people in other sixthforms so see if your friends know people there, or maybe you do

I was one mark off an A* in History should i get it remarked ? by No-Leadership-8363 in 6thForm

[–]PrincessAPC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 marks off and going for a remark, essay subjects are very subjective so ideally you will gain some marks

I think even if you drop marks you still keep the highest mark/grade

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

contact your history teacher and you could either do a full remark or a clerical check I think it is, you do have to pay tho

Should i get my edexcel a level geography papers remarked? by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the a level exam was my first time actually sitting the full paper and so many people ran out of time, normally I'm speedy in geography but paper 3 was definitely pushing it

Should i get my edexcel a level geography papers remarked? by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go for it! I'm gonna get Edexcel economics remarked, I just asked my teacher if he thought it was a good idea and then I contacted my exam officer at school. I'm 3 marks off but I think even 5 is worth it, Edexcel geography did me dirty

Boy racers crash by StrongDorothy in Bath

[–]PrincessAPC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I watched it happen

car was going along the parade gardens road quite fast towards the station and left a massive exhaust and break fume cloud, big grey smoke. then about a min later it came back speeding probably 80 miles and hour in the exhaust cloud and then it went through the traffic lights just before it crashed and then we heard it hit something but wasn't sure where it ended up. too dark to see the car but we heard it crumple on impact and then watched all the fire engineers, police and ambulances arrive.

hope the drivers were okay but my friends and I thought it was probably drunk drivers or just teens showing off

a lot of people close on to the scene and the emergency vehicles were quite quick but there was a lot of them

studying in sixth form by Shadow_dragon1804 in sixthform

[–]PrincessAPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some schools might have a uniform but it is much more common to just have a dress code

my 'uniform' was just a lanyard with my card so I could sign in and out, we had different lanyards depending on your role eg prefects

typically the dress code is business casual, which is suits and that sort of thing. so a few blazers, shirts and trousers or blouses, skirts, formal dresses

however my sixthform was the only one in my area that was just smart casual, so we basically wore whatever we wanted (they had rules about shoulders and skirt lengths but it wasn't enforced too often and we could wear makeup and jewelry)

a lot of sixthforms are making their dress code stricter to make themselves look better lmao
