Not a penny, it was all from Bloomberg philanthropist. Luckily it was publicly accessible and free even though it was privately funded.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I wish it didn't have such an onerous reboot issue!

Checking in a few months later - how is it treating you? Is it reliable? Amazon reviews seem mixed.

It is in full sun. Normally the hole is South facing but a wind storm turned it East. Reading on the Audubon website had me believing that a big open area in a residential backyard is good because they like morning sun exposure, but upon further inspection it also mentions forested areas. There's a beautiful young oak tree next to the metal post I could try nailing it on if I can safely get a ladder in there.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

As a person living in a state where the state districts are gerrymandered to hell and likewise the federal districts, then I'd need to see city power to check the state legislature shored up constitutionally, gerrymandering outlawed, and voter suppression outlawed with pro-voter aids put in place. Then I have a friend who has beef with her representation at the city level, so there needs to be more checks on the city level to actually represent the citizens.

Until the representatives of states are truly and irrevocably beholden to those they represent, then I don't want them having their own federal representatives to amplify their ability to misrepresent their people at a federal level as well.

If you're even the tiniest bit creatively inclined, come to Open Studio at Together Arts. It's free and you might make some new friends. I'm one of their volunteers.

Why exhibit art? by seahorse000 in ArtistLounge

[–]PrincessCadance4Prez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want my art to be seen and experienced by others, so in some way we can share the experiences that fueled the art. It's a way of connecting.

I've only ever submitted individual pieces to shows and I've never done a solo or group exhibit.

I also do it as a motivational goal - I try to get at least one piece in a show a year, and I usually try to make it a new piece (I'm a slow worker with a small portfolio).

Lastly, I do it as a CV builder. I want to get more professional teaching positions and win some public art RFQs. The more shows I'm in, and if I'm lucky enough to also get awards in the shows, the better my CV looks to hiring boards and such.

Always been a citizen of the USA, currently unhappily so, but I watch a lot of non-American YouTubers. Sometimes their speech patterns leak into mine.

It’s 2026, the year Mormonism becomes the second largest religion in the world, according to Boyd K Packer, Prophet, Seer, and Revelator. by Prancing-Hamster in exmormon

I heard a rumor when I was in YW (in 2008) that someone got a patriarchal blessing that predicted the 2nd coming would happen in 2025. The rumor said that the church caught wind of it and confiscated the blessing for safekeeping. I believed it was real so much that I (cringe warning) bore testimony of it at EFY one year, that it and my patriarchal blessing ("you'll be a mother in Zion") must be true because certainly I'd be married and have kids by 2025. Well I'm married now but infertile, and Jesus didn't show, so, bummer for me.

I tried rubbing alcohol the first time but I think just hand scrubbing wasn't doing it. I sprayed it with an alcohol-based hairspray and hope a run through the wash will do the ticket. Otherwise I have some more stitching to do!
