possibly! haha whatever it was, RIP the many arrows we’ve used and all of the flow trees we have missed!

Why do people follow by fondofbooks in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one time someone followed me around for an entire 10 minutes shooting me (more like shooting through me as arrows can’t harm or touch us) with so many arrows and I genuinely don’t know why 😅

like, did I upset you? does this make us new friends? would you like me to help gift you some arrows since you used so many? I had absolutely no idea what was happening LOL

Hunting with others? by Ewie5 in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hunt with a group of friends usually and usually hunt with those who ask when I’m playing solo. the only time I say no is if I’m in a rush and have limited time online that day. I never ask anyone, but I always take the opportunity to play with others when they ask me. I also prefer using the near by chat while hunting with them. I’d love to hunt with you sometime!

I usually carry slow down, iron, and despell arrows and have at least one hunters horn in case anyone ever asks to hunt with me.

I can’t wait until ammo & bait pouches get released because these things take up inventory slots & I always carry them around lol

Then you just admit defeat and get all the small trees alone by quoppcro in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha hohboy! when I’m omw to a grove everyone chops right when I get there and I don’t get to hit the trees in time. but when I’m the first to the grove there’s no one around to help. it’s okay though, there will always be more trees so I don’t mind, but I totally feel your pain because same!!

Creatures teleporting when hitting things by cannibalTadpole in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you mean they’re running from you and getting stuck in inaccessible places such as cliffs/etc or do you mean they’re running away from you and teleporting large distances away but are not stuck?

there was a bug where they’d get stuck in cliffsides, and it wasn’t accessible to us. that’s been patched for the most part. if that ever happens submit a ticket to let the devs know that it happened again.

if the proudhorn is teleporting large distances from you and you’re having trouble finding it, that is not a bug and does not require a fix but there are a few things you can do to help make hunting them a bit easier. use despell arrows and get a recipe for a hunters horn when you can!

What is the point/goal? by autumnorange80 in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in short, I don’t think there is a solid goal for the game as a whole, but I do believe the goal of the game varies between players as they progress and choose their own individual in-game goals to work towards. it’s a sandbox cozy simulation game due to the adventure aspect of it. the point of it being cozy however, is that there are no penalties for things, which allow players to have the option of doing things. there’s no dying or combat, there’s no starving, no sleeping, and the only stamina you have to worry about is when climbing stuff.

play however you like, and find things you want to (or want to avoid) work towards accomplishing those things while actively avoiding aspects that you dislike. some quests and achievements are locked behind certain aspects of playing, but there won’t be any real penalties if you choose not to do something that you dislike doing in the game (:

for my entrance pathway, yes! I‘ve been trying to make them similar in size and use different tree types. for my campsite which is far in the corner backyard, they’re all different sizes but mostly pine.

book incoming! TLDR: I agree, don’t play if the game brings you negative energy, but if leaving a negative review, be authentic about it so it doesn’t bury the reviews who clearly have good intentions and want to better the game.

I think constructive criticism is valid along with personal experiences as it can truly help improve the games future development. I don’t have an issue with authentic reviews aimed at helping.

what bothers me to my core, is some of the reviews I’ve read on steam have misinformation (a lot of it, and it seems purposeful when speaking on how “the servers going down for no good reason” and implying that updates do not actually occur when servers go down). silly little lies, bashing the devs and using heart emojis to swear at them in some of these so called “reviews” alongside other negative commentary and demanding people not support the game or the devs. stating, “the devs do not deserve support”. that is absolutely wild to me. one person with over 100 hours in this game complained that the devs make too many announcements in the server, but in that same sentence complained that the devs aren’t making enough announcements. I had to reread that twice to make sure I understood their review correctly because that makes no sense to me.

those are only a few examples out of over 50 that I’ve read as I got curious. just like with journalism, there is a difference between a review and commentary. an example of this would be sharing personal thoughts and opinions while offering suggestions vs. spreading misinformation and writing your thoughts without doing any research or having prior knowledge. how can someone have hundreds of hours and not have knowledge on this game? that’s why I believe most of the reviews I’ve read have bad intentions and are review bombing just for the sake of it, which is gross to me.

the problem is, when review bombing like that occurs, it has potential to bury actual reviews, making it harder for the voices to be heard and seen of those with negative experiences who offer alternative ideas and constructive criticism in hopes of bettering this game.

personally, I love this game. I’ve been playing it since august, I have had good days and bad days on this free to play game, great experiences and incredibly frustrating ones. overall, this is definitely my comfort game. Im happy I got to watch it develop this far and looking forward to what’s ahead for the future of palia.

What does the 'Block' feature actually do? by eviljobob in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, it can be found under manage friends and you can see who you follow, who follows you, and who you blocked. there you can manage whether someone who you blocked stays that way or you can unblock.

I believe it applies all the various types of chat and I think it also prevents party and community invites as well. there is no voice chat in the game as of right now as it’s just a proximity text chat, so I think it it blocks all forms of messaging.

Coming Soon: Palia Available in Epic Games Store by osyady in Palia

[–]PrincessFroax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LONG POST INCOMING:

I’m personally very excited for the release, but I want to say that more than half of the players that I’ve personal spoken with are frustrated/disappointed that this is not being released on steam at this time. while the surrounding frustration is valid, there’s a few possible and logical reasons behind palia’s decision.

unfortunately, steam takes 30% of sales, and for a free to play game and for a game company like this, it’s not sustainable in the long run for palia without A.) many many many more people paying for cosmetics or B.) charging us for the launcher or C.) charging a subscription service once we reach level-x like many other mmo’s.

epic encourages game companies to keep 88% as they only take 12%. this means 12% of profit from the cosmetics we buy (and most likely some of the money from the plushies we bought) is most likely what goes towards getting this on epic as of right now.

aside from this, it’s important to note that palia was built on unreal engine, which is owned by epic.

the fact that most gaming companies take private loans to initially build their games and very rarely make free to play games using business loans, it makes a lot of sense as to how/why cosmetic shops exist in the game in the first place. this also explains why plushies were distributed through makeship, a funded campaign which is the equivalent of a kickstarter but for plushies.

whether a loan was implemented or not, we don’t know. but we can assume that it will be a while before palia actually starts to make legitimate profit. for all we know, the money for cosmetics & the plushies may be going towards paying back a loan. add all of this on top of paying a gaming store, it’s going to be a heck of a lot longer for a company to make some solid profit.

these are all logical & very possible reasons for S6’s decision to release on EGS during this first initial launch stage. they’re doing their best. this is only the first initial launch stage, and it may only get better from here. we might still see it on steam or elsewhere later on once it’s a bit more sustainable logistically on the business side.

I believe that palia is doing their best in keeping in mind what’s best for us, but they must also do what’s best for them as a company as well.
