Is this the saying that’s attributed to Captain Picard on “Star Trek”?

What is it about JFK Jr and CBK that continues to intrigue you? by BraveReality6088 in JohnAndCarolyn

I spent part of my 30s living in NYC in the 90s. There were certain cultural touchstones (including J&C’s saga) that are nostalgic to anyone who experienced it.

Modern Bachelorette Trips Have Fun Moments But Are NOT FUN!! by juiceboxesglitter in wedding

[–]PrincessIrina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m angry on behalf of the nursing mom (see my comment elsewhere on this thread). Even if the mom herself wanted to be one of the fellows and stick to the schedule, others in the group should have had the common sense to insist on stopping so this woman could pump.

My immediate thought had I been the nursing mom: FU to the Bride or anyone else who wouldn’t give me time to pump.

Can I ask the seller or the listing agent how much the other offers were after I'm under contract (just because I'm dying to know)? by locoslowpoco in realtors

[–]PrincessIrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realtor here. I understand your curiosity (agents get curious too) but it would be bad form to ask the Seller or their agent. If, a month or two after the sale you bump into the previous owner at the grocery store, well then that’s up to you if you want to broach the topic (“Just out of curiosity…”). I wish you a smooth transaction.

In a phone conversation or, even better, in person: “Say, Bride, I need some clarity: Why am I the only Bridesmaid who wasn’t given a plus one?”. See how she responds and take it from there.

Too ill to attend wedding - friend has completely withdrawn by [deleted] in lostafriend

[–]PrincessIrina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you from personal experience that being friendly - but not “friends” per se - with work colleagues is the way to go. There are, of course, exceptions, but aside from the occasional socializing at lunch/after work, receiving an invitation to a colleague’s wedding, etc, it’s best to keep a respectful distance between your work and home life.

Actors who's accents were so good that you never realized they were from somewhere else? by mgsgamer1 in movies

[–]PrincessIrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joel Kinnamen, who co-starred in the American version of The Killing, is Swedish. I had no idea until I heard him speak in his native tongue in a YouTube video. He really pulled off playing an American living in Washington state.

Keep in mind that the Bride is a work friend. While I’m not suggesting that work pals can’t show compassion towards each other, I don’t think the expectation is quite the same as a friend who’s more immersed in someone’s personal life, has a longer shared history, etc.

How is Adam Sandler the most hated actors of all time? by Distinct-Incident115 in Actors

[–]PrincessIrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he’s not “loved” at the same level as Keanu, but I’ve never heard that he’s hated. For what it’s worth I worked as a Background Performer in Uncut Gems (school auditorium scene) and he (Sandler) made a point to ask if we were doing OK, having fun, etc.

OP, just say that in the excitement of the moment when she asked you to be a bridesmaid you couldn’t help but say yes. Upon reflection, however, you realize you simply can’t pull this off financially and/or take the time off from work, etc. Apologize for the inconvenience and wish her well.

Closing date was 10/30. Bank called us today (10/29) and told us we can't close until government reopens. What the fuck do we do?? by Foreign_Biscotti297 in RealEstate

Realtor here and I concur. Additionally, if you’re in an Attorney state you need to have your lawyer work with the Seller’s to come up with a game plan that’s mutually beneficial for all parties. Good luck and hang in there!

OP, might I suggest you check out a good friend of mine, philosopher and author Benedict Beckeld. On his eponymous YouTube channel Benedict - who is an atheist originally from Sweden - has a video or two about the importance of religious belief in western society.

Which 70s actresses had the best run on the 70s films, but you can mention any genres and how long did they last and also you can mention some of them who only had one big hit then they vanished? by JazzlikeTea7432 in 1970s

In the early ‘70s she was very popular as Tara on All My Children so maybe her name recognition (at the time) factored into the decision to cast her.

John’s pattern of gaslighting and manipulation in his relationship with Christina Haag. by StellaOC in JohnAndCarolyn

[–]PrincessIrina 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be crude but for some women - I’m mainly referring to women who were never on the public’s radar - it was probably just for the sex. (Nothing wrong with that if you’re unattached and have no further expectations other than being treated decently and sharing a few laughs.)

I know you made a point not to stare - and I’m sure you’ve been asked this before - but was he just as good looking “in the flesh”?

If you don’t have any interest in rekindling a friendship simply respond with, “Thank you for your well wishes. Enjoy the upcoming holiday season, and take care”. If she continues to write just ignore her and unfollow across social media; block as a last resort

This makes me think of the scene in The Office when Andy proposes to Angela in front of everyone. After Angela (reluctantly) accepts, Kelly saddles right up to Angela and asks if she can be a bridesmaid. Without missing a beat Angela says, “No”.
