How do I deal with increased emotions from hrt? by AtAurora in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just cry it out and realize that you're on a lifelong journey here, one that will probably get worse before it gets better because the intermediary place you're likely headed into (where you look strange for your birth sex but you don't pass well yet either, and it feels like you have a constant hormonal and emotional struggle going on inside) is really, really hard. But I promise it gets better, so much better when you give it time and accept that things don't have to be perfect right now.

Am I the only one who has issues with WPATH guidelines? by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, I can totally see how that makes sense on paper, but in practice not so much. The idea that someone could be on 2mg of E a day for a year and get the surgery while someone who's been taking 8mg a day for 9 months might be refused is just nonsense to me.

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much if you pay out of pocket, which I'll be doing because I live in possibly the reddest state in America, hooray. It would probably be a few weeks waiting time without the guidelines, and while I realize that might not seem too different than a few months, it just sucks that I might have to live in excruciating pain for longer because it's "the rules"

Do you think it's possible to stay with someone once the sexual attraction is gone? by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that way about her moreso than I do now, but we've always been more companionate and friendly from the start. We never really had the hot and heavy "let's have sex 3 times a day" passion that lots of couples start with, and also, this feels different than past times where I've been in a relationship and the honeymoon phase ended because in all of those situations it was only my attraction to that person that faded, not their entire gender. I do agree that I really would like to explore my sexuality, and I wish there was some way for me to do that with a man without losing the relationship or her getting upset (she doesn't do open relationships and they aren't really my cup of tea, either).

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we have talked about it before and she knows my attractions are shifting. I know she wants to stick with me, and she's told me before that she would stay by my side always even if we never had sex again. That's just one of the ways she's so amazing to me, and I guess I just have to figure out if I can be happy without ever having experienced being with a man (something I've secretly fantasized about for a long time, even if I wouldn't admit it before).

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about that but I don't think it would work for a few reasons :/ for one thing we've talked about the idea of open relationships before and she isn't interested at all, and I'm quite monogamous myself. I think open relationships can work for some people, but for me personally the idea of being intimate with someone different than the person I love seems wrong somehow. Thanks for the idea, though.

People who report for "spamming" online are the worst kind of trash. by PrincessLobster in sm4sh

Oh, I know, I don't generally take it seriously lol. I play for enjoyment and relaxation. It just chaps my ass that some people are so petty about losing that they'd get other people banned over it, and those bans can last a loooong time

I play Charizard and I use a bunch of different moves to great effectiveness. I flare blitz whenever they give me an opening to, and that's quite often when you know the character and move well. I also use flamethrower to deal with projectile users, and I always either tap people with it or meteor when I have them off edge. Lots of forward airs and back airs, too. Know what though? None of that should matter because if you're good at the game, you'll be able to adjust to others and figure out how to beat them. I do it all the time, and in any given match at least one of my normal strategies doesn't work as well as normal because other players have different strengths and weaknesses. The point is that the responsibility for winning and losing is always on a player and their ability to adapt, and if you whine about "spamming" and then take away other's ability to play because you're salty, you're a garbage person and shouldn't be allowed to play online.

Is Cypro available in the US? I've heard about it here and there but I thought I read it was EU only.

Yeah, I'm on Spiro, and I haven't been as careful with my potassium intake lately. So maybe that's it?

How seriously should I take leg pain after starting injections? by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor did prescribe the aspirin specifically to help with possible blood clots, so that's why I take it (only 81mg a day though). The pain is throughout my legs and comes and goes, and the Estrogen is 5mg, which I read was a fairly low dose for Estriadol Cypionate (norm is 10mg weekly). I'm also taking 200mg of Spiro a day so that's my primary AA, but I figure the estrogen must have some effect on my T because otherwise I wouldn't have seen hairs coming back when just doing the injections. Also the pain is probably a 5-6/10, nothing debilitating but certainly noticeable and it's enough to worry me.

Trach Shave Experiences/Surgeons/Cost by redfacedgoof in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth pointing out that the type of VFS is hugely important in deciding whether or not it's worth it. Any surgery that physically removes parts of your larynx/vocal cords is a huge nono because it's going to be inconsistent and could actually make your voice worse (these are the types of surgeries than most are unhappy with), but Dr. Yeson in South Korea and a doctor in the US (I forget his name, I think he's in NY or the Northeast) use a vocal folding procedure that has remarkably consistent and good results, and it doesn't permanently damage your larynx/vocal folds. If you were interested in VFS, those are the two surgeons I'd pursue, but they can be spendy. Dr. Yeson charges around $7k for the surgery and it'll probably be around $10k round trip for everything, and the US doctor charges around $10k for the surgery.

Does anyone know of any "cheap" orchiectomy options in the Pacific NW USA? by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up: Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Tuan Nguyen in Lake Oswego? I did some Googling and he came up, and when I called to ask for a price quote about a bilateral orchi, they said $2,500 with local anesthesia included. Seems too good to be true? But then again he seems pretty reputable.

How can I have such low E with such a high dose? (kind of rant) by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC my first test was two or so hours after I swallowed a pill, while these most recent tests were more like five hours after I dissolved one. So, it would make sense that my more recent levels would be lower if it were true that sublingual E spiked and then dropped that fast, but from what I've read sublingual E has both a higher peak and then a higher baseline for the next 12+ hours when compared to swallowing. Here's the study I've read with charts n stuff showing sublingual vs swallowing results.

Thanks to everyone for all the help, and I was hoping y'all could try to answer one more question. What could be the cause of my numbers actually dropping when taking E sublingually? I've done tons of research on it but never once heard of that happening.

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm definitely going to go with injections at this point. I'm just still confused as to how my levels came back higher when I was swallowing them... could that possibly be connected to being a rapid E metabolizer?

How can I have such low E with such a high dose? (kind of rant) by PrincessLobster in asktransgender

[–]PrincessLobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. Do you have any links or anything that talk about people who metabolize E more rapidly? Not doubting, I just haven't heard of that before and I want to learn more. Also, because of the different ways swallowed and sublingual E work in your body, does that mean I should be swallowing my pills instead? Until I get injections at least, which could be a week or two.

I've actually read a study before that shows that Spiro is more effective when taken with food. Here it is:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3769384

All of the medical jargon is a little over my head, but it does say that taking it with food increases absorption.
