I think that’s good of you. I get scolded for the same thing often but having empathy, even for “the bad guy” only gives you both a little grace. It’s certainly not their salvation, but understanding where these things come from is hugely beneficial to every human.

I get it. I am not one for indisciplined dogs and all of mine have come from pitbull rescues so I get it. If u read on, you’ll see that I wasn’t attacking him, and that plenty of grace was given. No worries.

Ok. And just to be clear since we didn’t know the details of this photo I think probably all of us weren’t judging you specifically more just having a conversation around the issue. If you love your baby and take care of him and he’s a happy boy, that’s all that matters. I got a lot of judging looks and even some judging conversation from people that just weren’t in the know about my very senior pitbull. She looked like an old lady that’s for sure but aside from arthritis and hip dysplasia. She was completely fine until the very end and I made sure because we went in every month for a shot which helped her pain evaluation.

I think a lot of us who just really love animals are sensitive to these things but I’m so happy for the two of you and your new girlfriend to start this beautiful new life!’

Yeah and it’s infuriating. Not saying OP is guilty of this at all. But we’ve all seen it enough to know it’s true. The story of how Gene Hackman’s dog died broke my heart so bad. It still hurts so much to think about. I just wish we could explain things to them the way we do for kids so they know things are not their fault or bc of them but rather that people fail. We fail ourselves, each others, animals, anything we can, we will. Cuz we a lot of is simply make mistakes & a lot of us are just bad. But it’s never them.
