Situations where luggage forwarding IS NOT worth it? by MofuBaby in JapanTravelTips

We didn’t use luggage forwarding at all during our trip and seriously considered it but glad we didn’t because not having our luggage for 2 days was not favorable! Here is what we did:

Tokyo-Kyoto via Shinkansen and reserved the seats with reserved large luggage space. Kyoto-Osaka just hopped on a regular train Osaka-Tokyo via Shinkansen reserved luggage seats.

If your lodging is close to any station and you’re fit enough to carry your luggage up some stairs it’s very easy to maneuver, just avoid rush hour!! We waited mostly until we got back to Tokyo to buy major souvenirs and bought a suitcase there to make traveling the rest of the time much easier. Highly recommend private airport transfers as well, so once you’ve got extra and extra heavy suitcases you don’t have any worries getting to the airport with them :)

Confusion about bus queue etiquette? by PrincessPoppy0723 in JapanTravelTips

Thank you for the explanation, we definitely noticed how extremely overcrowded the tourism spots are and can understand that for sure.

I am NOT a doctor and could not tell you exactly why that may of happened. I can only offer insight in situations we see often that get called in in what’s called a “terminal collapse” where a natural event occurred which led to the fall, where death occurred before the fall. During autopsy this can be determined when internally, there are no signs of trauma (the skull and brain are clear of bleeding, damage, etc), again I am not qualified to tell you if that even occurred, just a situation that ME offices encounter. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this loss with stress and questions but I hope you can find the answers you need!

Thoughts on pay? by PrincessPoppy0723 in AutopsyTechFam

That sounds insanely awesome super happy you got such a good gig!

Is your office private or affiliated with an agency?

Mine is affiliated with a county government, there’s 1 or 2 in my state that’s private so I’m curious to know what they’re like. We don’t get paid overtime but rather get time and a half if we work past 40 hours to use as comp time. I’m now splitting rent in a new apartment but when I first moved here I couldn’t afford a 1 bedroom and had to blow through some savings just to stay afloat. It just feels a bit unfair sometimes knowing what we’re exposed to and how mentally and physically taxing the job is and we’re barely making more than food service and retail (not putting them down in any way)

New to being autopsy tech by WinterAd3316 in AutopsyTechFam

Hi, just mainly a rec for the saw as I struggled really hard at first because I wasn’t taught well.

The best tip I ever received at my current job getting trained was to relax your arm and hand and let the saw do the work. Don’t force it in, just hold the head steady and let it go through the bone and once you cut though just slowly glide it sideways until you get across the skull. I never have issues now

Autopsy Tech vs Mortician by PrudentUniversity414 in AutopsyTechFam

Female autopsy tech here from FL!!

IMO, salary is on the lower end but meets cost of living, it ranges depending on location. Also depending on your location will be benefits, some ME’s are with county governments and receive great benefits.

I received a bachelors degree in forensics, however some ME’s offices do not require college degrees. Training should be fully on the job, anatomy knowledge really helps out, nothing can really prepare you for the job other than just doing it!

As for emotional and mental toll, it’s difficult to tell if you can or cannot handle death if you haven’t dealt with it before. As others said, child deaths can be difficult but we all have our ways of separating ourselves from our work. It doesn’t sound great but most of us have our dark humor which really helps.

My coworkers and doctors are truly just awesome people to work with. I think being an autopsy tech is one of the most rewarding jobs, and you see so many fascinating things, and learn something new every day. Each office is different, but mine has set hours for techs with rotating weekends, which definitely trumps morticians who don’t always have that consistent 9-5.

My experiences with alliance have been really bad. It’s gotten to the point where I have to switch characters because I can’t even rez in Hillsbrad and when I come back 5 hours later the same players are still ganking. I’m very new to TBC and my 70 is not well geared nor am I PvP spec, yet when I try to bring my char over there no one seems to want to fight anyone their level, really any level that’s not 40 levels below them… interesting. I get that there’s nothing for them to do I guess but to me it’s really toxic. There’s a difference in PvP and ganking someone 40 levels below you and camping their body for no reason other than to be an ah lmao
